Buwan ng Wika

One of the reasons why I love to be a full time mom is, I don’t have to file vacation leave just to attend school program. Today is the celebration of Buwan ng Wika in my son’s school and unfortunately my husband could not attend. Absent ang isa so kulang ang team namin. Lol. My husband’s role is taking video and my role is taking picture, O di ba, walang pinalalagpas na moment.

Last Wednesday, I told my son that I will go to his school to watch their presentation.

Me: Ethan, mommy will go to school on Friday. I’ll take some pictures.
Ethan: No, you take video. (Wow, he prefers video talaga.)

For the last two years, I was so stressed looking for costume so I was really happy because this year they don’t need costume. Activity Shirt + P.E. Short lang. #tipid.

Sharing to you his costume when he was in Nursery and Pre-Kinder aka Kinder/Senior Casa in their old school

I did not know that there are prizes for best performance so the top 3 sections in Kinder received medals (7 sections). Two of the kids in the school service were wearing medals so when we got home, my son said.

Ethan: Mommy, I want medal.
Me: You have medals naman di ba.
Ethan: No, I want Colegio San Agustin medal.
Me: Di galingan niyo next time para may medal kayo.

My son was still sad so I told him, you don’t need medal, galing mo nga magsing and dance. Happy na si mommy dun. Honestly, I don’t need medal because I’m already proud of him every time he performs in stage because I know he always gives his best. He sings or dances with a smile on his face. I think presentation is not really to compete but to enhance kids confidence or to discover and develop their skills in singing or dancing.

  3. It's the performance that counts Ethan. So don't worry about not having a medal. ^_^

  5. Naku saan maka experience din ako ng ganyan, Buwan ng wika. Sa school kasi ng mga anak ko they don't celebrate it with costumes. I love how you tell your soon na with or without medal you still love him. Sana lahat ng parents ganun. Thanks for sharing. :)

  6. That's the right mindset, mommy Michelle. I'm sure your son will learn well from you on this. That his value isn't on the medals, and that your love is worth more than a thousand of them. :)

  7. Hay, its nice to be able to attend all the school activities. I still have about 2 years to work on being SAHM. For sure, we'll have lots of costumes too like Ethan. :)

  8. Awww I miss the days when my girls used to perform in school. They still do now (they're in grades 6 and 7 already) but for the Buwan ng Wika activities, the parents are not invited. I didn't even get to take pics of them in costume this year! Your son did a good job though. Medals are not really important for me either. Congrats! :)
