How to Open Savings Account in BDO

Living in a single income is not easy, there are times that we are living from paycheck to paycheck. The word “savings” is easier said than done but savings is really important if you care for the future. We need to be a good steward and all we need is discipline.

Luke 16:10 “One who is faithful in a very little is also faithful in much, and one who is dishonest in a very little is also dishonest in much".

We already have savings account in BDO but when we learned that there is a new BDO branch in our place, I told my husband that we need to transfer our account to save time, effort and charges. Unlike BPI, BDO has interbranch fee that you need to pay if you will transact in other branches.

How to Open BDO Savings Account: Joint or Individual Savings

Opening savings account is easy, all you need to do is submit the requirements and money for initial deposit.

Passbook Savings P5000 (initial deposit) P10,000 (minimum monthly ADB requirement)
ATM Savings P2,000 (initial deposit P2,000 (minimum monthly ADB requirement)

BDO Savings Account Requirements

2 valid IDs + photocopy of ID’s
Proof of Billing
1×1 photo

But it is better to call the branch to ask for their requirements, in our case we only submitted, 2 valid IDs + photocopy of ID’s and proof of billing. Photo is no longer needed because they will take your picture there.

BDO Junior Savings Account

My son has savings account already, I opened it when he was still a month old. He is now 7 years old and I decided to transfer his account too so he will experience how to open his own savings account.

Proverbs 22:6 Train up a child in the way he should go; even when he is old he will not depart from it.

When I opened his savings account several years ago, it is still a joint account but now no more guardian needed. My son signed the form and ATM. I filled up the form for my son and I just asked him to sign the paper, nagcocomplain pa at ang dami daw sinusulat. Hehehe!

BDO Junior Savings Account Requirements (ito yung hiningi sa min)

Original Birth Certificate
School ID
School Registration Form
Proof of Billing (just to check the address)

When my son was still a baby, they only asked for 1x1 photo, birth certificate, my valid ID and P500 is the initial deposit. But now you can open savings account for as low as P100

Junior Savers P100 (initial deposit) P100 (minimum monthly ADB requirement)

But if you want to have Junior Savers Card, initial deposit is Php2,000. Kids 7-12 years old may opt for an ATM Debit card which also serves as their Junior Savers ID Card. Click here to check the benefits of JSC.

Next time I will teach him how to deposit money. We will deposit the money from tooth fairy

  7. My son has a BDO Junior Savings Account too. I already showed it to him but I know he will not understand that yet. Though, it's better to teach them to save early so for now I am teaching him to save through coin bank.

  8. This is great idea. I still do the classic way of saving money by putting them on their money box. Soon we will open bank account for both of my kids and deposit all the money they accumulated for 3 years. Great idea Sis:)
