Last year, I was lucky enough to be one of the winners of Cricut’s 12 Days of Christmas, and I received Infusible Ink Transfer Sheets, a tote bag, and coaster blanks as prizes. After receiving them, I stored everything away and completely forgot about it.
This month, I finally decided it was time to use them. Since this was my first Infusible Ink project, I watched several tutorial videos to prepare myself. I also bought different coaster blanks, both affordable and premium, to test which ones would work best.
For this project, I used the Cricut Galactic Stars Infusible Ink Transfer Sheet, and I was very happy with the results, especially on the ceramic coaster blanks. I did try square ceramic coasters as well, but I made a sizing mistake that caused white border lines to appear. Because of that, I’ll be sticking with round coasters for now.

If you’re curious about how I made these customized coasters, here’s a step-by-step guide.
Materials Needed:
Cricut cutting machine
Cricut Infusible Ink Transfer Sheet (Galactic Stars)
Coaster blanks (round coaster pads or ceramic coasters)
Cricut StandardGrip cutting mat
Cricut EasyPress 3
Lint roller
Heat-resistant tape
Parchment paper or butcher paper
Font used: Happy Hearts
Step-by-Step Instructions
Step 1: Prepare Your Design
Open Cricut Design Space and create your coaster design. I just wanted to add names, so I chose my favorite font (Happy Hearts) and resized it to fit my coaster blank.
Important: Mirror your design before cutting, as Infusible Ink requires mirrored images.
Step 2: Cut the Infusible Ink Transfer Sheet
Place the Infusible Ink Transfer Sheet ink side up on the cutting mat. Load it into your Cricut machine and cut the design.
Once finished, carefully weed away the excess material by hand.
Step 3: Prepare the Coaster Blank
Use a lint roller to remove dust and fibers from the coaster surface. This step is essential to prevent unwanted marks during heat transfer.
Step 4: Position the Design
Place the cut Infusible Ink design on the coaster, ink side down. Secure it with heat-resistant tape so it doesn’t move during pressing.
Step 5: Heat Press the Coaster
Preheat your Cricut EasyPress 3 according to the coaster material’s recommended temperature.
Place parchment paper on top of the coaster, then press firmly for the recommended time.
Do not move the press while heating to avoid ghosting.
Step 6: Reveal Your Design
Let the coaster cool completely before removing the transfer sheet.
I really enjoyed my first Infusible Ink project, especially seeing how vibrant and permanent the design turned out. Although I made a small mistake with the ceramic coaster sizing, it was a great learning experience. I’m excited to create more coasters soon, hopefully next time for my family.
