Family Lunch at Greyhound Cafe: Our First Visit

Our family recently had lunch at Greyhound Cafe—right after my laboratory test. My husband suggested the place since he had eaten here a few times before, but it was the first visit for my son and me. We decided to make the most of a 50% credit card promo on a minimum P3,000 order of a la carte meals—so we were ready for a feast!

Here’s what we ordered:

Chicken Satay – PHP 750
Super Beef Lover Hot Pot – PHP 1,250
Basil Pork Rice – PHP 395
Choco Lover Parfait – PHP 300
Mango Sticky Rice Parfait – PHP 295
Thai Es Yenn – PHP 180

While we were excited to try everything, a few dishes didn’t quite meet our expectations. The Chicken Satay was missing the cucumber on the sticks and came with a small cucumber salad on the side instead. The Super Beef Lover Hot Pot arrived without condiments, making it feel a bit incomplete. And the Thai Es Yenn, which should have been iced coffee with condensed milk, was served with evaporated milk. Some of the dishes also looked different from the photos on the menu.

On the bright side, the desserts and rice dishes were definite highlights. The Choco Lover Parfait, Mango Sticky Rice Parfait, and Basil Pork Rice were all delicious, and we’d happily order them again. My husband, who has eaten at Greyhound Cafe before, still swears by the Spicy Seafood Poh-Tak Hot Pot and Tom Yum Super Bowl, so we might try those next time.

Even with a few hiccups, we were happy to have experienced Greyhound Cafe, especially at half the price. If we go back, it’ll definitely be for the desserts and Basil Pork Rice. Sometimes, the best part of trying a new place is figuring out which dishes are the “must-orders” for next time!

Update: January 2026

Just this month, one of my friends came back to the Philippines for a quick vacation, so we decided to have a get-together. I searched for credit card promos and suggested Greyhound Café since they currently have an ongoing 50% off promo with a minimum spend of PHP 3,000.

We were a group of six, and here’s what we ordered:

Light Tom Yum Soup – PHP 750
Pomelo Salad – PHP 360
Pad Thai with Fresh Shrimp – PHP 650
Pad Thai with Chicken – PHP 650
Spaghetti Carbonara in Signature Light Cream Sauce – PHP 550
Minced Chicken with Basil Leaves and Hot Chillies – PHP 395
Minced Pork with Sweet Basil Leaves and Hot Chillies – PHP 395
Sticky Rice + Mango Parfait – PHP 295
Extra rice and drinks

Unfortunately, I wasn’t able to take photos of all our orders. My personal order was the Minced Pork, and honestly, I was disappointed because it was too salty. Even my friends tried it and agreed, salty nga daw. Good thing the Minced Chicken wasn’t salty. I just hope the taste of their food is more consistent because it was really disappointing.

My friend ordered the Pad Thai with Chicken, but it barely had any chicken. Compared to the Pad Thai with Fresh Shrimp, which had visible shrimp toppings, parang kulang talaga yung chicken version.

For dessert, I ordered the Sticky Rice + Mango Parfait. My friends didn’t order dessert anymore since they planned to have coffee and dessert elsewhere after lunch. Ako lang talaga yung hindi mahilig magkape, so I went ahead and ordered dessert on my own.

In the end, my balikbayan friend generously paid the bill, which made the meal even more special.

Overall, Greyhound Café is still worth a visit, especially if you catch their 50% off promo. Just a heads-up, some dishes might be a bit salty or inconsistent. Despite that, the ambiance and unique flavors make it a nice spot for a casual get-together with friends.
