Food Trip at Hotel Luna

Since we had been to Vigan before, I already knew that food wouldn’t be a problem, as there are numerous restaurants and fast food joints in the area. And because of that, I did not research the “Must Try Restaurants in Vigan”.

Thirteen years ago, we dined at Cafe Uno for lunch and Irene’s Vigan Empanada for merienda. But last month, we only ate at Hotel Luna. We didn’t plan about it but since satisfied na kami sa food sa Hotel Luna, ayaw na namin lumabas pa, sa hotel na lang kami kumain.

Hotel Luna features three restaurants, including Azotea, Comedor, and Chula Saloon Bar. We visited Chula Saloon Bar and Comedor. I did not know about the Azotea, hindi tuloy namin napuntahan. Ito pala yung may magandang view.

Anyway, we ate dinner, lunch, and merienda at Chula Saloon Bar, and for buffet breakfast, we ate at Comedor.

Chula Saloon Bar

For lunch and dinner, we tried these dishes. Luna Bagnet PHP600, Luna House Salad PHP250, Sinigang na Hipon, Pork Belly Adobo, Rice, Burnt Dulce De Leche Cheesecake PHP250, and Halo-Halo PHP250. The meals are good for sharing.

Merienda Buffet

After our DIY Vigan Tour, we had late lunch at Chula Saloon Bar and sa sobrang late ng kain namin, naabutan na namin yung pagprepare ng afternoon feast. If we knew na meron Merienda Buffet, sana naghintay na lang kami ng konti kasi mas mura. Para lang kami bumili ng isang dessert. Hehehe!

Merienda Buffet is an afternoon feast of Filipino Treats for PHP299. It is from 2PM to 5PM. We checked the buffet spread and promised na babalik kami. We decided na magmerienda buffet na lang kami kaysa magdinner.

Actually, hindi pa talaga kami natutunawan, but we went back around 4PM. We only saw one occupied table, so fortunately, wala pa halos bawas yung food, and we were able to enjoy our meal. There are pansit bihon, carbonara, goto, Vigan Miki, pastries, okoy, and kakanin.

Breakfast Buffet

Our room includes a complimentary breakfast buffet, and for two days, they have the same menu for the main dishes. So we had fried rice, longganisa, daing na bangus, corned beef, tocino, and tapa. They also have bread, soup, salad, eggs, and others, so it was a satisfying breakfast.

We liked the food and service at Hotel Luna, so kaya siguro hindi na kami nagtry pa sa iba. In addition, hindi rin siya crowded.

Hotel Luna Vigan Ilocos Sur

Let me continue my North Luzon Road Trip series, and this time I am sharing Hotel Luna. When my husband told me that we would be going to Vigan, I suggested Hotel Luna for our accommodation. I heard and read good reviews about this hotel, and it is one of the popular hotels in Vigan.

Hotel Luna is a restored mansion, and it is the first Museum Hotel in the Philippines. It is the home of rare masterpieces of famous artists in the Philippines. They have two hotels, one is Hotel Luna and the other is Hotel Luna Annex.

Hotel Luna Annex is cheaper, but it is a block away from the main hotel where the restaurant, gym, pool, and museum are located. We chose Hotel Luna, and the staff suggested a Double Queen Deluxe room because the room is good for 4 people.

But we booked 2 rooms: 1 Standard Queen and 1 Double Queen De Luxe. To confirm the reservation, 50% down payment is needed via bank transfer or Gcash.

We arrived late in the evening, so check-in was smooth at wala naman pila. These were our rooms, and I was surprised when I saw the bathroom; it is translucent and has no lock. Also, the hotel has a modern toilet, tinalo pa yung ibang hotel sa Metro Manila.

Hotel Luna offers the usual room amenities like fridge, cabinet, coffee and tea, hair dryer, bathrobe and etc. There is a water dispenser on each floor, so no need to buy bottled water. For toiletries, they provided hand soap, shampoo, and body wash. I requested for room slippers since wala ako nakita sa room.

The hotel has free wifi, but weak signal inside the room, so mas okay tumambay sa restaurant, lobby, or swimming pool if you want a good connection. Even our own mobile data has a weak signal inside the room.

Hotel Luna has a gym, swimming pool, museum, and 3 restaurants. They have Azotea, Comedor, and Chula. Buffet breakfast is part of the room package, and since we were satisfied with their food, we only ate at the hotel. I will share our food trip in a separate post.

What I like about this hotel, it is located in the heart of Vigan, so we can explore the different tourist spots in the area by foot, calesa, or tricycle. The room has complimentary use of an umbrella so rain or shine, dinadala namin.

Overall, we enjoyed our stay here; we liked the room, food, and service. Our only complaint is, medyo madilim lang sa room kasi konti yung windows.

Birthday Celebration at Lugang Cafe

June is my husband’s birthday month, so last May, I informed him of all the dining promos that I’ve seen online. The are hotel buffet and restaurant promos, but he said “ayaw daw niya maghotel buffet” so we ended up at Lugang Cafe since hindi pa namin natatry.

We took advantage of the 11th Feast All You Can promo for PHP688 + Service Charge. This includes unlimited dim sum, noodles, soup, fried rice, and drinks. For PHP888 + Service Charge, you can add one main dish. The promo is already over, so I’m just sharing our experience.

My husband just called to reserve, and we chose Lugang Cafe at SM Aura. We arrived around 11AM so konti pa lang kumakain. Upon seated, they gave us the Feast All You Can Menu and answer sheet.

We were a group of six people and ordered 1 Steamed Pork Xiao Long Bao, 1 Pork and Vegetable Dumpling, 1 Vietnamese Egg Roll, 1 Crispy Eggplant with Teriyaki Sauce, 3 Fried Rice, 3 Noodles, and 3 Soup.

For the main dish, we ordered Taiwanese Fried Pork Chop, Sweet and Sour Pork with Pineapple, Garlic Buttered Shrimp, Steamed Fish Fillet with Tausi, Spicy Clams with Basil, and Steamed Pomfret with Light Soy Sauce.

After our first order, nag follow-up kami ng 1 Steamed Pork Xiao Long Bao, 1 Steamed Pork Xiao Long Bao with XO Sauce, 1 Tofu with Preserved Egg and Pork Floss, and 1 Steamed Chicken Feet with Black Bean Sauce.

Among the main dishes, yung Taiwanese Pork Chop ang hindi namin type, walang lasang pork, puro breading yung nalalasahan namin, I was expecting din yung Taiwanese Pork Chop na nakain namin sa Taiwan. But the rest of the main dishes taste good. For dim sum, appetizers, noodles, soup, and fried rice, okay lang for us.

We were done after an hour, and based on our order, parang hindi namin nasulit yung promo, so parang nagsisisi si hubby. Sana naghotel buffet na lang kami, siguro nag-expect lang kami na baka same experience sa lunch namin sa Din Tai Fung at Taipei 101. Naenjoy kasi namin yung dimsum experience namin doon.

Junior High School Moving Up

I had no blog post for the past few weeks because I was busy with my offline life and had no time to craft or blog. I have so many things to share about our travel trips, but for now, let me start with “Moving Up”.

School Year 2024-2025 is already over, and I’m proud to say that my son finished this school year with a bang. My son won 2nd place in the General Knowledge Contest and 1st place in Aghamatika Contest. He also received the Leadership Award because he was part of their Student Council. And during the Moving Up Ceremony, he received four medals.

Seventh Honor
Gold Eagle Award
Best in Information and Communications Technology
Special Recognition in Research.

This is a big achievement compared to his previous years, so I am proud of him because he really improves every year. So when I was making his Junior High School Memories video, I chose the “This Is My Now” song of Jordin Sparks as the background song. I like the message of this song.

This Is My Now

There was a time I packed my dreams away
Living in a shell, hiding from myself

There was a time when I was so afraid
I thought I’d reached the end
Baby that was then
But I am made of more than my yesterdays

This is my now, and I am breathing in the moment
As I look around I can’t believe the love I see
My fears behind me, gone are the shadows and doubts
That was then, this is my now.

Had to decide was I gonna play it safe
Or look somewhere deep inside and try to turn the tide
Find the strength to take that step of faith
And I have the courage like never before, yeah
I’ve settled for less but ready for more
Ready for more

This is my now

I just hope na hind maburn out sa kakaaral and he will have the same passion sa pag-aaral until he finishes college.

Dinner at Italliani’s

After the Moving Up, we went to Italliani’s for a quick celebration. We ordered Spaghetti Vongole, Margherita and Garlic and Cheese Zeppole.

Lunch at NIU by Vikings

The following day, we were supposed to eat in a hotel because I found a 50% off buffet promo, but it was already fully booked when my husband called to reserve. Grabe lang ito, fully booked agad kahit 5 days before kami nagpareserve. So I suggested to my husband, sa NIU by Vikings na lang ulit so he called the restaurant to reserve.

My mom was not able to attend my son’s Moving Up because natapat na flight nila from Boracay to Manila yung event so delayed Moving Up celebration na lang with the Senior Club. Hehehe! Good thing we made a reservation kasi punuan and marami din kumakain because of Recognition, Moving Up and Graduation.

Fortunately, there was an ongoing Graduation Promo when we dined. We did not know about this promo, good thing na kagagaling lang namin sa school to get the School Report Card and Moving Up Photos, so we were able to avail of this promo. In our case, aside from the Moving Up Photos, they still asked for my son’s school ID bago naapproved yung FREE BUFFET. Sayang nga kasi we are only seven people, so dalawa sana yung free kung walo lang sana kami.

Anyway, I already blogged about our “Lunch Buffet at NIU by Vikings” last January and halos same naman food and marami rin tao so hindi na ko nagtake ng marami pictures.
