Shopping at Muji and Lunch at Gringo

Last month, we visited Festival Mall with the intention of buying Christmas exchange gifts. It was a relaxed mall day with no strict plans, just walking around, browsing stores, and enjoying the holiday atmosphere. During our visit, we came across Muji, and it was my first time visiting Muji at Festival Mall.

First Visit to Muji Festival Mall

Originally, we were focused on finding exchange gifts, but once we entered Muji, our plans quickly changed. The store’s minimalist design and calm ambiance immediately stood out. Everything looked clean, functional, and thoughtfully designed.

Instead of exchange gifts, we ended up buying items for our home. Prices were higher than your usual home stores, but the quality and design made it feel worth it. Sometimes you just can’t resist those practical-but-pretty finds!

Lunch at Gringo

After shopping, we headed to Gringo for lunch. It was also our first time dining there, and we were curious to try the restaurant after seeing their menu.

We ordered the following dishes to share:

Ribeye Salpicao – PHP 760
Ribeye Steak and Fries – PHP 1,680
Rice per cup – PHP 55

The food was okay. The steak was flavorful, and the salpicao was tasty, though a bit salty for our liking. Nothing really wowed us, and honestly, for the price, we expected a little more.

Menu Photos vs. Reality

One thing we noticed right away was the portion sizes. Compared to the photos on the menu, the actual servings were noticeably smaller. For dishes on the pricey side, we were hoping for bigger plates. It wasn’t bad, but the difference between expectation and reality made the meal feel a little underwhelming.

Overall, our Festival Mall visit was still enjoyable. Muji was a great discovery and a store we would gladly visit again, especially for home essentials. Gringo, on the other hand, offered decent food, but the price-to-portion ratio might make us think twice before returning.

Still, it was a good experience trying something new, and it made for a memorable mall day filled with shopping, food, and first-time visits.
