Day 4 Singapore: Jurong Bird Park

We’ve been to different zoos but this was the first time that we’re going to visit a bird park. Jurong Bird Park is a place where you can see 5000 birds across 400 species in the world. You can see them flying, swimming, and roaming freely in their naturalistic habitats, including four large free-flight aviaries. There are feeding sessions and bird shows too.

Jurong Bird Park is the only zoo of Wildlife Reserves Singapore that is not located at the Mandai Lake Road Singapore. Travel time from Sheraton Towers SG is 95 min by bus SGD1.76, 75 min by train + bus SGD1.91, and 26 to 30 minutes by taxi SGD20 +. Seventy-five minutes is really long and we need to wake up early just to be there before 10AM so I decided that we will take a taxi instead.

We left at 9:05AM, may tumatanggi din pala na taxi driver sa Singapore. Naka-2 taxi din kami bago may pumayag na ihatid kami sa Jurong Bird Park. The rate of taxi depends on the time of your travel, when I checked gothere.sg, the rate is close to SGD25 but when we reached Jurong Bird Park, I just paid SGD20+.

And because we took a taxi, we were so early for the King of the Skies Show. Kami talaga nauna na dumating sa Hawk Arena. Hehehe! Click here for the video.

Nice to see the different birds, they are really big.

After the show, we went to the Penguin Coast for the Penguin Encounter. My son enjoyed the penguin feeding for SGD2. Click here for the video

We enjoyed watching Happy Feet movie so we’re delighted to see the penguins up close and personal, there are five species at the Penguin Coast.

Then after that, we went to the next show which is the High Flyers Show at Pools Amphitheatre.

There are only two shows in Jurong Bird Park so do not miss it because this is your chance to take pictures of the birds up close. If you missed the show, you can still see the birds but some birds are inside the cage, so you cannot take a good photo of it.

We started exploring the different attractions such as Wing Asia, Bird Discovery Center, Junge Jewels, Birds of Prey, Window of Paradise, Hornbill & Toucans, Royal Ramble, Wetlands, Heliconia Walk and Lory Loft.

You can experience bird feeding for a fee at Lory Loft but I did not pay for this since we already experienced bird feeding at Residence Inn Zoo and Zoobic Safari in the Philippines.

We rode the tram to reach Waterfall Station,  SGD5 adult and SGD3 child but since we bought the Park Hopper Plus Tickets, we have unlimited tram rides. There is a man-made waterfall where 600-free flying birds are there. Yes, free-flying birds so it is really hard to eat here because the birds go to your table.

We explored Waterfall Aviary, Dinosaur Descendants, Parrot Paradise, Swan Lake, and Pelican Cove

We waited for the Pelican Chit-Chat and paid SGD2 for Pelican Feeding. Remember the Finding Nemo movie, pelican helped nemo to go inside the dentist clinic. Click here for the video.

Before we left the Waterfall Station, we went to the Bird Feeding at Waterfall Aviary.

Then we rode tram back to the Main Station. There is Wet Play Area at Birdz of Play but we did not visit it anymore since we wanted to finish everything on the map.

We visited the Flamingo Pool, Saddlebill, Riverine and last stop World of Darkness. We've seen flamingo in other zoos pero mas madami dito sa Jurong Bird Park.

The Jurong Bird Park is not that big compared to Singapore Zoo so we’re done at 3PM. Our favorite here are the two shows, penguin feeding, and pelican feeding.

We went to the bus stop because this time, we were going to ride the bus + train. 75 minutes travel time to the hotel.

Directions:

1. Walk to the bus stop at Opposite Jurong Bird Park (22019), Jalan Ahmad Ibrahim.
2. Board Bus 194. Alight at Boon Lay Interchange, Jurong West Central 3, 1 stop later.
3. Walk to Book Lay Station East-West Line. Board the train towards Pasir Ris Station. Alight at Buona Vista Station, 6 stations later.
4. Circle Line. Board the train towards Dhoby Ghaut Station. Alight at Botanic Gardens Station, 3 stations later.

We have visited Jurong Park before and my boys had a lot a fun watching the King of the Skies show. It was worth the 40+minutes can ride from the city center.

Yay! I envy you mommy Michi you have a lot of time to travel. :) This is again another fun adventure with your family. ♥

We enjoyed the show too, buti na ang at di ako nagkuripot. Nagtaxi na rin kami so we will not missed it, but good thing less than 30 minutes lang biyahe namin. :)

That is one advantage of stay-at-home mom, I have more time. No need for vacation leave, budget lang ang limited. hehehe!

Flamingos!!! So majestic. We missed our tour bus going to Jurong Park before so we haven't been there. My animal-loving daughter will enjoy this!

I should include this in our next itinerary for Singapore. Been to Singapore a couple of times but haven't had the chance to visit this bird park.

Michi said...

There are so many attractions in SG so you really need to revisit just to cover everything. :)

Michi said...

Yes, the shows are good and much better because they have more birds than our local show here. :)

Michi said...

Yes, they are really cute. :)

Michi said...

Yes, go back and visit the bird park.

Michi said...

Yes, the zoos are very educational, just in time for my son's lesson in Science. :)

Happy traveling and enjoy SG!

Michi said...

Yes, much better if you bring your kids. :)

The bird park is really nice because there are so many species that you cannot see here in the PH. Don't miss the shows if ever you will visit. :)

How I wish we visited this place the last time we were in Singapore. We opted to go to Night Safari instead of visiting this zoo.

Unknown said...

Woah! 5000? That's quite uhm, too many? And Penguins! We also love them and hope let my son see one in person soon.

Michi said...

Maybe you can visit next time. We did Jurong Bird Park and Night Safari in one day. :)

Michi said...

True, so many birds that I can't memorize the names and species. I only remembered my favorites. :)

Singapore really has a lot of interesting places to offer not just for kids. Also, it is near Manila lang and it doesn't really cost an arm and a leg.

They are indeed big birds. Would love to visit that as well when the boys and I travel to Singapore. Surely, its a travel minus my mom because she has no patience walking around a zoo. But she loves walking miles just to shop.

Ma.Me.Mi.Mommy said...

I'd include this in my itinerary the next time I have a chance to bring the kids to Singapore again. I'm sure they would enjoy!

Unknown said...

That's a cool experience! I'd love to see a flock of flamingos! Looks like you had a whole lot of fun visiting the place.

may palacpac said...

this reminds me of Ark Avilon, not the one in Pasig, but the one in Antipolo ata yun? Yung malaki.

Natawa naman ako sa tumatanggi na taxi, but really, nakakagulat nga.

Michi said...

Yes, There are so many airlines that fly to SG too and they have seat sales too. :)

Michi said...

Hahaha! She prefers malls because it is air conditioned so it is more relaxing than zoos.

Michi said...

Actually, there are flamingos in other zoos of WRS but Jurong Bird Park has a flock of flamingos so mas ok magpicture. :)

Michi said...

Avilon Zoo in Montalban, Rizal. Yes, may bird show din dun and pwede papicture sa birds. :) Tama, nagulat din ako na may tumatanggi. Hehehe!

MSP said...

So many interesting spots. And those are big birds! Ang cute din ng mga flaminogs!

Teresa Gumap-as Dumadag said...
