It was three years ago when we first dined at Botejyu. I didn’t blog about it back then because I was really disappointed with our first experience.
We were a group of six coming from Las Casas Filipinas de Acuzar, and we decided to stop by a mall near NLEX to have lunch. Gutom na gutom na kami, so when the staff started serving the food, kain na agad. Everyone got their orders except me.
After a few minutes, wala pa rin yung sa akin. We followed up, but nothing happened. Then I noticed that food was being served to another table, and that’s when I realized they had completely forgotten my order. We arrived earlier than that group, and by the time my companions were already done eating, wala pa rin ang food ko. Because of that, kahit sobrang gutom ako, nawalan na talaga ako ng gana. We ended up canceling my order and just paid the bill. In my mind, sana nag-drive-thru na lang kami.
That experience was the reason it took me a long time to give this restaurant another chance.
Just this month, we were at SM Sta. Rosa to buy some things for our home, and before shopping, we decided to have lunch at Botejyu again. They had an ongoing 50% off credit card promo for a minimum purchase of PHP 3,000, which made the decision easier.

For our family of three, we ordered:
Pork Tonkatsu – PHP 295
Shrimp Tempura (5 pcs) – PHP 355
Yakitori (10 flavors) – PHP 940
Teppan Grilled Gyoza (5 pcs) – PHP 210
Rice Set – PHP 115
Miso Tonkotsu Ramen – PHP 425
Chef’s Choice Sushi Platter (10 pcs) – PHP 425
Vanilla Sundae – PHP 200
It was lunchtime, so the kitchen was quite busy. Our food started arriving after about 20 minutes. The Yakitori was served last, and by then, busog na kami, so take out na lang leftover. Honestly, I expected it to be served earlier, pero mas nauna pa yung rice meals. We even had to follow up on the Yakitori because we were almost done eating, and wala pa rin.
At that point, I couldn’t help but think that maybe grilled dishes are tricky to order at Botejyu since my forgotten order from years ago was also grilled.
Still, at least this time, we received everything we ordered. Thanks to the credit card promo, we were able to try a variety of dishes at a discounted price.
I was also surprised that Astoria had a raffle ticket promo there, the kind where they ask for your occupation and salary (if you’re familiar with that). January pa lang ngayon, but the raffle draw is in December pa. Hehehe!
