Birthday Staycation at Sheraton Manila Club
I’ve been browsing my digital albums and I noticed that for the past three years, sa Sheraton hotel lang pala kami nakapunta #hotelstaycation. Three years ago, I celebrated my birthday at Sheraton Manila and several months after that, we had a staycation at Sheraton Manila Bay. And recently, my husband celebrated his birthday at Sheraton Manila Club.
Since Sheraton Manila is just across NAIA 3, I suggested to my husband na doon na lang siya magbirthday. He wanted to have a beach trip pero hindi pa kaya ng powers ko magbeach after our long trip from Norway. He did not say yes immediately because he was still checking other options. After few days of thinking, he informed me that he already booked at Sheraton Manila using his points.
My husband booked the room only so no breakfast. And because of this, we already planned where are we going to eat our dinner, breakfast, and lunch. Fast forward to our stay, when the staff learned about his birthday, she/he upgraded our room to Club Room. Check-in time was 3PM but since the room was ready, he was able to check in early. Wow! By the way, a credit card or cash deposit of PHP5000 is needed.
Staying in a Club Room entitles guests to have access to Sheraton Club and here are the privileges of club guests.
Our arrival is still late in the afternoon so my husband went to Sheraton Club and enjoyed the complimentary snacks while waiting for us. I just called my husband when we already got our luggage and from the airport, we arrived at the hotel after 9 minutes. There is a hygiene kit, welcome fruit, and cake.
I prefer this room kasi mas maliwanag but I don’t like the bathroom. Hindi ko talaga type yung mga open, semi-open, see-through or translucent na bathroom. I don’t know if it is already a trend kasi ganyan din experience namin sa Narra Villa of The Farm at San Benito, and Chateau Hestia Room.
I wanted to take a rest but when I checked the time, past 6PM na pala. We don’t want to miss the “Hors d’oeuvres” so we immediately went to the 10th floor.
My son and I only experienced Sofitel Club Millisime and walang hors d’oeuvres doon so we really took our time trying the foods here, I love the hot dishes served in small bowls. I can’t recall the name of each dish, but there is chicken, pork, fish, and beef. Aside from that, there are cold cuts, cheeses, salad, desserts, soup, bread, and drinks.
After our hearty meal, we went back to our room to freshen up and rest. This was our view outside the room.
We overslept so it was almost 9AM when we arrived at S Kitchen, good thing that the buffet breakfast ends at 10:30AM so we still have time to enjoy the breakfast. Since we were late, may mga food na naubos na, like champorado na naghintay pa ako ng refill.
Also, I was looking forward to “Paluto” that I’ve experienced three years ago pero wala na pala ngayon. Anyway, we still enjoyed our breakfast at the S Kitchen, ang tagal ko ng nagcrave sa Filipino Foods.
We went back to our room and we found a birthday cake. This is small compared to their complimentary cake before but no complaint. It is the thought that counts and nahirapan nga kami ubusin yung dati so mas okay yung ganitong size. Masarap din ang chocolate cake nila.
Since we had brunch, busog pa kami for lunch so we just had snacks at Sheraton Club. The buffet spread is limited lang so we ate cookies and fruits, and we had drinks before going to the pool.
Check-out time is 12NN but they allowed us to stay until 4PM so we had time for quick swimming at Vega pool. We had our late lunch at Oori Korean Restaurant, I will blog about that in a separate post. Overall, it was indeed a good birthday staycation. #eatsleepandrepeat

JW Marriott Hotel in Jakarta Indonesia - Governor Suite
A few weeks ago, I blogged about JW Marriott Hotel Hanoi, and today, let me share with you another JW Marriott property. My hubby just got back from Jakarta, Indonesia. He usually stays at The Westin Jakarta, but since the hotel was fully booked, he had no choice but to look for another place. He remembered JW Marriott Hotel Jakarta because they had an event there during his last visit.

My husband usually stays in a Deluxe Room, but it was no longer available, so he had to book the cheapest available room during his trip, which happened to be the Governor Suite. The room is about 84 sqm and has a separate bedroom, living room, workstation, walk-in closet, and two bathrooms. There is a coffee and tea area, minibar, fridge, two televisions, three phones, and wired and wireless internet. This hotel room is very spacious for one person—actually bigger than our tiny house. Hehehe!
What’s special about this room is the Executive Lounge Access. It’s open from Sunday to Saturday, 6 AM to 12 AM. You get private access, complimentary food and drinks, and other business services.
* Complimentary food
* Complimentary cocktails
* Complimentary non-alcoholic beverages
* Complimentary 2 pieces pressing per day (non-accumulative)
* Complimentary wifi in the lounge and meeting room
* Complimentary use of meeting room for 2 hours per day (subject to availability)
* Complimentary business services like fax, printing, scanning (free 20 pages per day)
* Free local call excluding mobile phone call.
* Drop off shuttle in Mega Kuningan area from 6AM until 11PM.
* Complimentary culinary offering all day with evening cocktails.
* Personalized check-in and check-out
* Evening Service Bar
Executive Lounge at 29th Floor
Breakfast 6AM - 10:30AM (Weekday) | 6AM - 11AM (Weekend and Public Holidays)
High Tea 2:30PM to 4:30PM
Hors d’oeuvres 05:30PM - 9:30PM
Evening Cocktails 5:30 - 9:30Pm (Wine, Spirit, Beer & Cocktails)
Cheese & Dessert 05:30 - 11PM
Aside from the Executive Lounge access, my husband also received two vouchers: one worth IDR 150,000 for Alameda Spa & Health Club and another worth IDR 100,000 for Sailendra Restaurant. He could also choose a complimentary gift from JW Marriott:
* Asuka Maki Sushi Roll at Asuka Japanese Dining
* A bowl of Indonesian Soup (Sop Buntut, Bakso or Iga) at Sailendra Restaurant
* A choice of appetizer at Pearl Chinese Restaurant
* A choice of dessert at Pearl Chinese Restaurant
* A glass of house beer at Blu Martini
* A glass of house red or white wine at Blu Martini
* Avail IDR50,000 off your in room dining orders.
With all the free food and drinks, parang gusto mo na lang mag-stay sa hotel at mag-food trip. Before his business trip, my husband was on a diet… pero ewan ko na lang kung ano nangyari sa diet niya during his stay. Hehehe!
Sailendra Buffet Breakfast
For breakfast, he had two options: the Executive Lounge or Sailendra Restaurant. He tried both. Sailendra Buffet Breakfast offers international dishes such as American, Japanese, Chinese, Indian, and of course Indonesian cuisine. One advantage of the Executive Lounge is that they serve pork dishes daw.
You can also dine at Asuka Japanese Restaurant, Pearl Chinese Restaurant, Blu Martini Bar & Lounge, and Sailendra Restaurant. If you want to save money, you can eat at the nearest shopping mall—my husband just walked from JW Marriott to the mall.
JW Marriott Hotel Jakarta is a 5-star hotel offering a fitness center, spa, swimming pool, meeting rooms, and event venues. The room, food, and service are good. Just like the Hanoi branch, they give complimentary chocolates every turndown service.
This hotel reminds me of our stay in Sofitel Club Millesime Manila because of the executive lounge and Four Points by Sheraton Bangkok sa dami ng freebies. You can check other Marriott hotels that I have reviewed in the past.

JW Marriott Hotel Jakarta is 30 km away from the airport and located in the Central Business District in Mega Kuningan, South Jakarta. It’s close to business offices, embassies, and even shopping centers. The hotel opened in 2001, so the look is already a bit dated, which you will notice in the room photos.
When my husband booked this hotel, medyo paranoid ako because it was bombed twice by terrorists in 2003 and 2009. Because of that, the hotel now has five layers of blast walls and very tight security. If you have small scissors or any tools, you need to surrender them to the concierge.
