Birthday Craft Projects: Handmade Cards & a DIY Cake Topper

I’m sharing a few birthday craft projects I made last month, including handmade birthday cards and a fun DIY cake topper. I had so much fun experimenting with different inks, stencils, pastes, and other crafting supplies to create these birthday projects!

Bee Birthday Card

This Happy Bee Day card was such a fun project to create! I used bee stamps, stencils, and cutting dies, then colored the images with Ohuhu Markers.

For the honeycomb background, I blended Brilliance Archival Ink through a stencil to create a fun, layered design. I also added a second background using Lindy’s Gang Magical Summer Break, which added a beautiful touch of shimmer.

This was my first time using both the Lindy’s Gang Magical Summer Break set and the Brilliance Archival Ink Pad, so I really enjoyed experimenting with them. I’m so happy with how these products came together to bring this cheerful bee-themed birthday card to life!

Birthday Cake Card

I had so much fun creating this sweet birthday cake card! SVG file is from Bearly Art.

For the cake icing, I used Aleene’s True Snow combined with Lunar Paste to create a fun, dimensional texture that almost looks good enough to eat!

I paired the cake with a shimmery embossed background made using Lindy’s Gang Magical Powder. The combination of texture and sparkle added a festive touch to the design.

Simple Birthday Card

For this card, I kept things simple with a Distress Oxide background and stamps featuring cute animal designs.

Sometimes a simple design is all you need, and I really enjoyed coloring the stamped images and seeing the card come together.

Happy Birthday Cake Topper

To finish off my birthday projects, I made my own Happy Birthday cake topper using an SVG file from Craft with Sarah.

It was a fun and easy project, and I love how a handmade cake topper can add a personal touch to a birthday celebration!

Final Thoughts

I really enjoyed making these birthday projects and experimenting with different crafting products and techniques. Each project gave me the opportunity to try something different, and I’m looking forward to using these techniques and supplies again in future projects!

A Handmade Mother’s Day Gift Set with My Cricut Maker 3

For this year’s Mother’s Day, I joined the Cricut Philippines Mother’s Day Craft Challenge with one goal in mind: to create something as thoughtful and special as a mother’s love.

Instead of making just one item, I challenged myself to design a complete handmade gift set; something cohesive, meaningful, and filled with little details that show appreciation.

After a few days of crafting, cutting, and assembling, I finally brought my vision to life: a mom cake gift box, a “Happy Mother’s Day” cake topper, a heartfelt card, and a tea holder filled with tea bags, because Mom is simply tea-riffic.

The Inspiration

Mothers do so much, often quietly and without expecting anything in return. I wanted this project to reflect appreciation, patience, and gratitude; values that remind me of everything moms represent.

Each piece in this set was designed to feel personal and handmade, not just decorative. I wanted it to feel like a gift you’d keep, not just use once and forget.

What I Made

Mom Cake Gift Box

This is the centerpiece of the set, a beautifully crafted box designed to hold small treats. The design is by Dreaming Tree, and at first glance, I honestly felt a bit intimidated to try it. But I’m so glad I did.
To make it my own, I used an embossing folder and Distress Oxide to add texture and color, giving the box a more personalized and elegant finish.

Happy Mother’s Day Cake Topper

I actually made this cake topper back in March, and luckily, the colors matched perfectly with this project. Instead of recreating it, I decided to incorporate it into the set, saving time while still keeping everything cohesive.

Mother’s Day Card

No gift is complete without a heartfelt message. I created a matching card to tie everything together, using similar colors and patterns for a cohesive look.

I had previously shared this design, but since I made two versions of the paper craft, I repurposed one into a card for this set.

Tea Holder (Tea-riffic Mom!)

Lastly, I made a tea holder filled with tea bags. It’s simple, functional, and adds a playful touch to the set.

The SVG file is designed by Katie Adams, but I customized it by using only the base structure and adding extra shapes so all sides of the holder feature patterned paper. This small detail helped elevate the overall look and made it feel more complete.

My Crafting Process

Using my Cricut Maker 3 made this entire project possible. It allowed me to cut intricate designs cleanly and consistently, which is especially important when working on multiple coordinated pieces.

This project took me a few days to finish. From cutting to assembling and adding final details, every step required patience and care. I used techniques like embossing and ink blending to add depth and texture, making each piece feel more premium and handmade.

Handmade Birthday Craft Ideas: Cake Toppers, Chip Bags, and Cards

Celebrating birthdays becomes even more special when you add a personal, handmade touch. I love creating small craft projects for family and friends because they make each celebration feel more thoughtful and unique. Recently, I worked on a few birthday-themed craft projects that were fun to make and perfect for gifting.

Here are some of the birthday crafts I created.

Birthday Cake Topper – 21st Birthday

For my nephew’s 21st birthday, I decided to make a custom cake topper. A handmade topper adds a special touch to any birthday cake and makes the celebration feel more personalized.

This design is from Cricut Design Space. It was simple but elegant, and it made the cake look extra festive. Projects like this are quick to make but can make a big impact on the party table.

Birthday Chip Bag

Another fun project I made was a birthday chip bag for my friend. Custom chip bags are great for party favors, snack tables, or even small gifts, and they’re surprisingly easy to create.

For this design, I used my favorite Bear Birthday Party Clipart, which gave the chip bag a cute and playful look. Personalized snack packaging is always a fun addition to any birthday celebration.

Bee Birthday Card

I also created a bee-themed birthday card. I originally found the design in Cricut Design Space and edited the file so I could turn it into a greeting card.

The bee design was cheerful and perfect for a birthday greeting. Sometimes, a small edit to an existing design can turn it into something completely new and useful.

Happy Birthday Pop-Up Box Card

One of my favorite projects was a Happy Birthday pop-up box card. This design also came from Cricut Design Space.

I made this card for my mom because she loves flowers. The pop-up design makes the card extra special because it opens into a beautiful display instead of a traditional flat card. It’s a wonderful keepsake that can be displayed long after the birthday celebration.

Final Thoughts

Handmade birthday crafts are a great way to show people you care. Whether it’s a cake topper, a customized chip bag, or a unique pop-up card, these small projects can make birthdays even more memorable.

I always enjoy experimenting with different designs and personalizing each project depending on who I’m making it for. Crafting for birthdays is not only fun but also a meaningful way to celebrate the special people in our lives.

Gnome Craft Countdown 2026

The Gnome Craft Countdown by Craft with Sarah has wrapped up for 2026, and this was already the fourth time I joined the event. Over the years, I’ve collected quite a large number of gnome paper craft designs, and I’ve even donated some of the finished projects.

Since I’m currently busy with other craft projects, I decided to be more selective this year and only make the gnomes that I really liked. For this countdown, I submitted two projects as my entry:

Card Making Countdown 2025

While decluttering my phone gallery, I realized I have so many craft projects that I never got around to sharing. So this January 2026, I decided it’s finally time to start posting my craft projects and giving them the spotlight they deserve.

One of the highlights of 2025 was joining Craft with Sarah’s Card Making Countdown 2025. It was such a fun and creative challenge. Because life got busy, I only managed to finish 4 cards, and I was able to submit 3 out of the 14 card projects in total. Even so, I never expected what happened next…

I was fortunate to win 2nd prize (random draw). Yehey! It was such a wonderful surprise and a big motivation to keep crafting and sharing my work.

Here are the card projects I completed for the countdown:

Rocker Card

A fun, interactive card that gently rocks back and forth when placed on a flat surface. It’s playful, eye-catching, and perfect for special occasions. I wasn’t sure what to put on my Rocker Card, so I used leftover cut-out designs from my Comic Card.

Decorative Border Cards

Cards featuring beautifully detailed borders. These are elegant and great for showcasing intricate cut details. I used only white paper and Distress Mica Stain Spray to color the design.

Z-Fold Card

A creative fold that opens in a zigzag shape, adding dimension and surprise. This style is perfect for layered designs and storytelling layouts. I used a ready-made file because I really liked this Christmas Carolers card.

Faux Stained Glass Card

A card designed to mimic the look of stained glass using layered cuts or colored markers and translucent materials, creating a striking and colorful effect.

The Card Making Countdown was already over, but I liked this design so much that I made it anyway. The photo doesn’t do it justice, but I added Broken Glass Phototop on top of the acetate to achieve the stained glass effect.

Marie Forleo said, "You were born to create and contribute". And I'm glad to be part of the Printable Cuttable Creatables Design Team for Summer-Fall 2025.

So from July to December, I will share some tutorials or project inspiration on Printable Cuttable Creatables website. For July, I already shared my craft projects. I made Sea Animals Cupcake Toppers and Beach Scene Layered Card.

For this project, I used the Cute Sea Animals SVG Collection. I cut most of the designs, including the sea corals.

I only needed to share two craft projects, but I was in the mood to craft, so I still made a few projects.

Sea You Card

I used the Cute Clownfish and Sea Coral SVG Files. This is a print then cut project; I printed the clownfish and sea corals. Then I made my own background using Distress Oxide. I cut the letters using a die-cutting machine and used Distress Spray to add some designs.

Tropical Sunglasses Card

I cut the Tropical Sunglasses using Cricut Maker, and for the letters, I used a die-cutting machine and Lawn Fawn Alphabet Stitch Dies. I used Distress Spray for the background.

Beach Day Paper Craft

This is a Beach Day Scrapbook File, but you can also use this as a photo prop. I made this for our future beach trip.

Cards for Different Occasions

It's been a busy Monday, but I want to share the different cards I've made over the past few months. Last March, I subscribed to Cricut Access, and one of my goals is to make at least 30 projects to maximize my subscription. And I’m happy to say that I exceeded my goals because I was able to finish more than 30 craft projects.

Almost three years ago, I purchased my Sizzix Big Shot, and the package included Sizzix Floral Lattice dies. I only tested the dies and forgot about them. Thanks to Bee Happy Weeklies Week 21, I finally used them to make this "Hello Floral Card".

There are 2 versions of this, but I only cut one design. It is a unique card, but easy to cut and assemble. I made this card for our wedding anniversary. This card is from the Gilded Stork website.

My mom attended a Confirmation, and this is the card that I made last week before her flight. Confirmation in Norway is an important event for teenagers (15 years old). It is a transition from childhood to adulthood. It is like a debut in the Philippines.
