Birthday Craft Projects: Handmade Cards & a DIY Cake Topper

I’m sharing a few birthday craft projects I made last month, including handmade birthday cards and a fun DIY cake topper. I had so much fun experimenting with different inks, stencils, pastes, and other crafting supplies to create these birthday projects!

Bee Birthday Card

This Happy Bee Day card was such a fun project to create! I used bee stamps, stencils, and cutting dies, then colored the images with Ohuhu Markers.

For the honeycomb background, I blended Brilliance Archival Ink through a stencil to create a fun, layered design. I also added a second background using Lindy’s Gang Magical Summer Break, which added a beautiful touch of shimmer.

This was my first time using both the Lindy’s Gang Magical Summer Break set and the Brilliance Archival Ink Pad, so I really enjoyed experimenting with them. I’m so happy with how these products came together to bring this cheerful bee-themed birthday card to life!

Birthday Cake Card

I had so much fun creating this sweet birthday cake card! SVG file is from Bearly Art.

For the cake icing, I used Aleene’s True Snow combined with Lunar Paste to create a fun, dimensional texture that almost looks good enough to eat!

I paired the cake with a shimmery embossed background made using Lindy’s Gang Magical Powder. The combination of texture and sparkle added a festive touch to the design.

Simple Birthday Card

For this card, I kept things simple with a Distress Oxide background and stamps featuring cute animal designs.

Sometimes a simple design is all you need, and I really enjoyed coloring the stamped images and seeing the card come together.

Happy Birthday Cake Topper

To finish off my birthday projects, I made my own Happy Birthday cake topper using an SVG file from Craft with Sarah.

It was a fun and easy project, and I love how a handmade cake topper can add a personal touch to a birthday celebration!

Final Thoughts

I really enjoyed making these birthday projects and experimenting with different crafting products and techniques. Each project gave me the opportunity to try something different, and I’m looking forward to using these techniques and supplies again in future projects!

Birthday Celebration at Butchers Steaks and Grill Tagaytay: A Family Feast with a View

My husband celebrated his birthday at Butchers Steaks and Grill, a restaurant he discovered while looking for new dining spots in Tagaytay. Located at Cliffhouse Tagaytay, this relatively new steakhouse offers quality steaks, seafood dishes, and a beautiful dining atmosphere that makes it ideal for family gatherings and special occasions.

The restaurant is led by Chef Ariel Manuel and is known for combining premium cuts of meat with international flavors while taking advantage of Tagaytay’s cool weather and scenic surroundings. The restaurant is open daily from 11:00 AM to 9:00 PM.

For my husband's birthday, we booked an early dinner. Before arriving, I was already planning to order from their Bar Bites menu because that was what I had seen on their Facebook page. However, upon arrival, the staff introduced us to their Family Style Menu.

The Family Style Menu is priced at PHP 3,900 plus service charge and is designed for 4 to 5 persons. Since we were only a family of three, the staff kindly adjusted the package and offered it to us for PHP 2,900 plus service charge. We immediately took the offer because it seemed like the perfect way to sample several of their signature dishes without ordering individually.

Family Style Menu

Starters
· Beef Bouillon with Green Onions & Sherry
· Deep Fried Vegetable Roll with Asian Mango Dip
· Tiradito Style Spanish Mackerel Carpaccio Ceviche
· Chilean Mussels in Cilantro, Garlic and Olive Oil
· Highland Greens with Anchovy & Garlic Dressing

Mains
· Grilled US Ribeye Steak
· Roast US Angus Beef Rump (Picanha)
· Boneless Chicken Anticucho
· Arroz de Mariscos

Desserts
· Baked Cheesecake
· Baked Peanut Butter Churros with Dark Chocolate Ganache Dip

The package also included one round of their mocktail of the day.

During our first visit, the featured drink was the Honey Fizzer, a refreshing combination of fresh lemon, golden honey, and soda bubbles. It paired well with the rich and savory dishes that followed.

What I liked about the Family Style Menu was the variety. We were able to enjoy seafood, steak, chicken, rice, and dessert in one meal. The Grilled US Ribeye Steak and Roast US Angus Beef Rump were the stars of the table, while the ceviche and mussels provided a fresh contrast to the hearty mains.

To make my husband's birthday celebration even more memorable, the restaurant surprised us with a complimentary dessert complete with a birthday candle. It was a thoughtful gesture that we did not expect and one that made the occasion feel extra special. We appreciated the effort of the staff in helping us celebrate his birthday, and it added a warm personal touch to our dining experience.

For a group of three, the serving sizes were generous yet manageable. We finished everything on the table and felt completely satisfied by the end of the meal. Service was also efficient, with dishes arriving at a comfortable pace and without long waiting times.

Back for Another Celebration

After hearing about our experience, my mom became curious about the restaurant and wanted to try it herself. When the time came for her despedida, we decided to return to Butchers Steaks and Grill.

This time, we were a group of 11 people. Since it was a larger reservation, the restaurant required a PHP 2,000 down payment to secure the booking, which we conveniently paid through bank transfer.

We ordered two Family Style Menu packages at PHP 3,900 each, which gave us a better appreciation of the serving sizes intended for bigger groups.

One noticeable difference during our second visit was the rice dish. During our first visit, we were served Arroz de Mariscos. On our return, we were told the dish would be Arroz con Salchichas. However, I did not notice any sausages in the serving. To me, it looked similar to the previous arroz dish, except without the seafood toppings.

The Honey Fizzer was also different from what I remembered. I enjoyed it during our first visit because it had a balanced blend of honey and citrus flavors, but on our second visit, it tasted a little watered down and no dried lemon either.

Aside from the set menus, we ordered a few additional items:

· Essence of Beef Bulalo (PHP 255) x 2
· Plain Rice x 3
· Mashed Potato
· Cucumber Splash (PHP 210)

The Essence of Beef Bulalo was a comforting addition, especially with Tagaytay’s cool weather. It offered a rich beef flavor that complemented the grilled meats on the table.

Final Thoughts

Both visits to Butchers Steaks and Grill were enjoyable dining experiences. The Family Style Menu offers excellent value for families and groups who want to sample a variety of dishes without the hassle of ordering individually. The combination of steaks, seafood, appetizers, and desserts makes it a satisfying feast, especially for celebrations.

While there were a few inconsistencies between our two visits, particularly with the drinks and rice dish, the overall experience remained positive. The food was filling, the portions were generous, and the restaurant's welcoming atmosphere made our celebrations memorable.

Whether you're planning a birthday dinner, a family gathering, or simply looking for a new restaurant to try in Tagaytay, Butchers Steaks and Grill is worth considering for its hearty meals, family-style dining options, and relaxing Cliffhouse Tagaytay setting.

Birthday Celebration at Alba Restaurante Español: Spanish Comfort Food Favorite

Alba Restaurante Español is one of our favorite Spanish restaurants in Alabang, and we’ve been dining here since 2020. Known for classic Spanish comfort food like Paella Valenciana, Lengua Sevillana, and its signature cheesecake, Alba remains our go-to spot for family celebrations and special occasions.

A few months ago, we celebrated my father-in-law’s birthday here, although a bit late. Since we couldn’t attend on the actual day due to work schedules, we decided to have a weekend birthday lunch instead.

Family Birthday Dinner at Alba Restaurante Español

As a family of four, we usually stick to our favorites, but this time we also explored new dishes alongside our usual Spanish restaurant staples.

What We Ordered at Alba Restaurante Español

Paella Valenciana – PHP 900
Callos a la Madrileña – PHP 600
Lengua Sevillana – PHP 750
Pollo Cordon Bleu – PHP 550
Plain Rice – PHP 80
Tarta de Queso – PHP 250
Tarta de Santa Teresa – PHP 280

Must-Try Spanish Dishes at Alba Restaurante Español

Paella Valenciana
A classic Spanish rice dish with chicken, pork, seafood, and vegetables. This remains one of the best-selling dishes and a must-order for first-time visitors.

Lengua Sevillana
Tender stewed ox tongue cooked in a rich sherry-based brown sauce with mushrooms and olives. A flavorful and hearty Spanish dish.

Callos a la Madrileña
A traditional Spanish stew made with ox tripe in a rich tomato sauce. Comforting and full of flavorful depth.

Pollo Cordon Bleu
Chicken stuffed with ham and cheese, served with a creamy mushroom sauce. A satisfying dish for those who prefer something familiar yet indulgent.

Desserts at Alba Restaurante Español

Tarta de Santa Teresa
A sponge cake with cream filling, almonds, and yema balls. It was decent, but not a standout for us.

Tarta de Queso (Cheesecake)
The classic dessert from Alba Restaurante Español, still our favorite. Creamy, rich, and perfectly balanced.

Is Alba Restaurante Español Worth It?

Our family thoroughly enjoyed the birthday lunch at Alba Restaurante Español. The familiar dishes continue to impress, and trying new items made the experience even more enjoyable. While not every dish was a favorite, the overall experience was satisfying and comforting, perfect for family gatherings and celebrations in Alabang.

If you’re looking for authentic Spanish food in Manila, Alba Restaurante Español remains a reliable choice for paella, callos, and classic Spanish desserts.

Handmade Birthday Craft Ideas: Cake Toppers, Chip Bags, and Cards

Celebrating birthdays becomes even more special when you add a personal, handmade touch. I love creating small craft projects for family and friends because they make each celebration feel more thoughtful and unique. Recently, I worked on a few birthday-themed craft projects that were fun to make and perfect for gifting.

Here are some of the birthday crafts I created.

Birthday Cake Topper – 21st Birthday

For my nephew’s 21st birthday, I decided to make a custom cake topper. A handmade topper adds a special touch to any birthday cake and makes the celebration feel more personalized.

This design is from Cricut Design Space.  It was simple but elegant, and it made the cake look extra festive. Projects like this are quick to make but can make a big impact on the party table.

Birthday Chip Bag

Another fun project I made was a birthday chip bag for my friend. Custom chip bags are great for party favors, snack tables, or even small gifts, and they’re surprisingly easy to create.

For this design, I used my favorite Bear Birthday Party Clipart, which gave the chip bag a cute and playful look. Personalized snack packaging is always a fun addition to any birthday celebration.

Bee Birthday Card

I also created a bee-themed birthday card. I originally found the design in Cricut Design Space and edited the file so I could turn it into a greeting card.

The bee design was cheerful and perfect for a birthday greeting. Sometimes, a small edit to an existing design can turn it into something completely new and useful.

Happy Birthday Pop-Up Box Card

One of my favorite projects was a Happy Birthday pop-up box card. This design also came from Cricut Design Space.

I made this card for my mom because she loves flowers. The pop-up design makes the card extra special because it opens into a beautiful display instead of a traditional flat card. It’s a wonderful keepsake that can be displayed long after the birthday celebration.

Final Thoughts

Handmade birthday crafts are a great way to show people you care. Whether it’s a cake topper, a customized chip bag, or a unique pop-up card, these small projects can make birthdays even more memorable.

I always enjoy experimenting with different designs and personalizing each project depending on who I’m making it for. Crafting for birthdays is not only fun but also a meaningful way to celebrate the special people in our lives.

Hello 2026: Starting the Year with Cake Topper Creations

Welcome to my very first blog post of 2026! As we step into a new year filled with celebrations, I wanted to kick things off by sharing some cake topper designs I created last December. These pieces were made with love to close out the year and are perfect for birthdays and special moments in 2026.

Hello Thirty Cake Topper

Turning 30 is a milestone worth celebrating in style. The Hello Thirty Cake Topper was made using a beautiful combination of gold, black, silver, and holographic cardstock. This mix gives the topper a bold, elegant look that stands out on any birthday cake and photographs beautifully. I used Festive Font

Happy Birthday Deody Cake Topper

This Happy Birthday Cake Topper was crafted with holographic and black cardstock, creating a sleek contrast that works for any age or theme. It’s a versatile topper that adds just the right amount of sparkle to any birthday celebration. I used Birthday Verygood Font

2026 Cake Topper

I bought Black Velvet Cake from Cafe Mary Grace, and to welcome the new year, I also created a 2026 Cake Topper. Made with gold, black, and holographic cardstock, this topper is perfect for New Year celebrations, milestone birthdays, and events happening throughout 2026. It’s a simple yet stylish way to mark the year.

Although these cake toppers were made last December, I’m excited to feature them as I begin blogging in 2026. Here’s to a year filled with beautiful celebrations and more handmade designs.

Birthday Craft Projects: Handmade Cake Toppers & a Cheers-Worthy Card!

I’ve been in full-on birthday mode for the last few months! I’ve made lots of birthday cards and cake toppers, so here’s a little round-up of what I created for recent celebrations – including my own!

Happy Birthday to Me! – My Own Cake Topper

Yes, I made my own birthday cake topper, and I’m proud of it! It was the perfect way to personalize my cake and add a touch of handmade charm to the day.

Unfortunately, I forgot to buy my own cake – but luckily, the complimentary cake from Café Hyatt Regency Manila saved the day.

I went with a clean, fun design that simply read "Happy Birthday to Me" – because why not celebrate yourself? I used the Thinker Font, which you can find here

17th Birthday Cake Topper

For a special 17th birthday celebration, I crafted a topper that read “Ethan Ranked Up to 17” using the Somekind Font

Fun fact: I actually made two versions of this topper because I didn’t like the color combination of the first one – perfectionist problems, right?

70th Birthday Cake Topper

A milestone birthday deserves something extra special. For this one, I created a topper in silver and black cardstock, giving it a classy and elegant vibe. I used the Chirp Font for a clean and modern look.

Pro tip: Layering metallic cardstock adds instant sophistication!

Happy Beer-day! – A Fun Birthday Easel Card

What’s a birthday without a card? This one’s for the beer lovers out there!

I designed a birthday easel card featuring the punny phrase: “Happy Beer-day!” It has a layered design with 3D beer mugs, frothy foam, and bubbles – all made from cardstock.

The easel style means it stands on its own, making it perfect for display.

The 3D beer SVG file is from Craft with Sarah
The easel card template is from Cricut Design Space

Crafting these birthday projects reminded me of the meaning and value of handmade creations. Whether it's a simple cake topper or an elaborate card, adding your personal touch makes any celebration extra special.

Until the next craft project – happy crafting!

Birthday Celebration at The Cafe Hyatt Regency Manila, City of Dreams

Last August, we had no classes for 6 days. If I had known it sooner and if only we had a budget, I would've planned a whole different birthday celebration! But you know what? A home staycation and a little food trip aren’t so bad.

Since I was celebrating my birthday on a budget, I wanted to make the day special without going overboard on expenses. So, I started looking for good dining deals and promotions, and I found a few options that I want to try.

Some of the promos I found required a minimum of 4 guests, but we’re just a family of three, so I was glad to discover that The Café at Hyatt Regency only required a minimum of 2 guests. Their discount was 30% off, which may not be the biggest, but it worked for us. A week before my birthday, my husband called the hotel to reserve a table.

The Cafe Hyatt Regency Regular Buffet Rate

Breakfast (6:30 AM to 11:00 AM) – PHP 1,400
Lunch (12:00 NN to 3:00 PM) – PHP 1,950
Dinner (5:30 PM to 11:00 PM) – PHP 3,150

The Cafe

How time flies! After ten years, we finally revisited City of Dreams. The last time we were here was also for my birthday. We visited DreamPlay back then, parang anak ko yung may birthday! Hehehe!

We arrived at The Café just five minutes before 12NN, and there was already a long line. But they let guests in right on time.

All seats were already pre-reserved, so even if you arrive early, you can’t change tables. The Café can accommodate 315 guests, and during our visit, the place was almost full. Because of that, I only managed to take a few photos of the buffet spread.

The Cafe has different stations such as Italian Kitchen, Carving Station, Flame and Skewer, Mexican Fiesta, Maki Bar, Fresh Catch on Ice, Asian Noodle Bar, Taste of India, Crispy & Crunchy, and Sweet Endings. They also have live cooking stations, which make the experience more interactive.

I explored the different stations, and I was a little bit disappointed because they don’t have steak and ebi tempura. Ito kasi yung favorite ko sa mga buffet and hindi avaialable.

After our food trip, I looked up more information and found this on the City of Dreams website: “Chef’s Carving Station - a daily highlight from our rotating selection of one premium meat or one fresh seafood”. Waah!

Meat: Roasted Pork Loin, Roasted Whole Chicken, Lechon Belly Roll, Slow-Roasted Brisket.
Seafood: Shrimp, Fish

One meat or one seafood lang so I can’t help but compare it to Cucina by Marco Polo na marami choices sa Carving Station. But I’m happy with the Lechon Belly Roll, masarap ito.

Among the stations, I focused on Carving Stations, Flame & Skewer, and Fresh Catch on Ice. These had the most satisfying selections for me.

To top it all off, the staff surprised all birthday celebrants with a birthday cake, complete with a candle and a birthday song. Now I understand, bakit hindi pwedeng magpalipat ng table. hehehe! Kasi per section yung kanta nila so nung turn ko, 3 kaming sabay-sabay na binigyan ng cake and kinantahan.

When the staff brought us the bill, she mentioned that we could stay until 3:00 PM, but since we were already full, we left before 2:00 PM.

As always, I kept my birthday simple and intimate; just me and my little family of three. I didn’t need a crowd or a big party to celebrate, just great food, a cozy setting, and each other.

This birthday reminded me that luxury is not always about how much you spend, it’s about how you feel. And on that day, I felt happy, content, and loved. Here’s to more joyful celebrations, smart spending, and memories that last way beyond the bill!
