JW Marriott Hotel Kuala Lumpur Review: Room, Breakfast & Location

Before I start sharing my Disney Adventure Cruise series, let me take a little break to feature another hotel my husband stayed at during his week-long trip to Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia.

JW Marriott Hotel Kuala Lumpur is the fifth hotel he has stayed at in the city. If you're looking for more accommodation options, you can check out my previous blog post, Where to Stay in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia, where I've featured the other hotels we tried.

This is also the third JW Marriott property he has experienced! I've previously shared his stays at JW Marriott Hanoi in Vietnam and JW Marriott Jakarta in Indonesia.

This time, let's take a closer look at his week-long stay at JW Marriott Hotel Kuala Lumpur, including the room, breakfast buffet, location, and a few things he liked and didn't like about the hotel.

Deluxe King Room

My husband stayed in the Deluxe King Room, which measures approximately 40 square meters. Since he was staying for a week, having a comfortable room was especially important.

One thing worth mentioning is that the hotel offers connecting rooms. These can be convenient for families or groups traveling together, but they may not be ideal for guests who prefer a quieter stay.

On one night, during the wee hours of the morning, my husband could hear noise coming from the adjoining room. Thankfully, this only happened once during his week-long stay.

The Bed and Room Temperature

As I mentioned earlier, my husband has stayed at other JW Marriott hotels, so he already had a few experiences to compare this property with.

Unfortunately, the bed at this branch wasn't his favorite. He found the mattress too firm and even commented that our bed at home was much better!

Another thing he noticed was how cold the hotel felt. Even after turning off the air-conditioning in his room, he still felt cold. He eventually caught a cold during his trip, although we can't say for sure whether the hotel's temperature had anything to do with it.

The Bathroom

The bathroom features a separate bathtub and shower, which is a nice touch for guests who enjoy soaking in a tub after a long day.

However, we found the bathtub a little amusing because it looked surprisingly short! I would estimate it to be only about three feet long, although I didn't actually measure it.
It might be fine for a quick soak, but its size certainly caught our attention.

Breakfast Buffet

My husband was satisfied with the breakfast buffet at JW Marriott Hotel Kuala Lumpur. During his week-long stay, he enjoyed the food and beverages served at breakfast and appreciated the service provided by the hotel staff.

Having breakfast at the hotel was also a convenient way to start his day before heading out for work and other activities.

Unfortunately, I don't have more details about the individual dishes, but overall, he was happy with his breakfast experience.

Hotel Facilities

JW Marriott Hotel Kuala Lumpur also offers facilities such as an outdoor swimming pool and a fitness center, along with dining options for guests who prefer to enjoy a meal without leaving the hotel. Unfortunately, my husband wasn't able to try any of these facilities because he was busy organizing their event throughout his stay.

Perhaps on his next visit, he'll have more time to explore the hotel's amenities and enjoy what the property has to offer beyond his room and breakfast.

Location: Near Pavilion Kuala Lumpur and Bukit Bintang

One of the biggest advantages of JW Marriott Hotel Kuala Lumpur is its location. Situated along Jalan Bukit Bintang, the hotel is within easy reach of popular shopping destinations, including Pavilion Kuala Lumpur. The surrounding area also has plenty of restaurants, cafés, and entertainment options, making it a convenient base for travelers who want to explore the city.

The hotel is also about a 20–30-minute walk from the Petronas Twin Towers, making it possible to visit this famous Kuala Lumpur landmark on foot.

Speaking of the Petronas Twin Towers, I even reminded my husband to take a photo of my Malaysia paper craft while he was there! He walked all the way to the towers just to take this photo. It's always nice to have a little piece of my hobby included in our travel memories, even when I'm not the one on the trip.

I may not have been in Malaysia with him, but at least my paper craft got to travel there!

Pasalubong from Malaysia

Whenever my husband visits Malaysia, I honestly don’t give him a “must-buy” pasalubong list. The only things that usually come to mind are Cadbury chocolates and OldTown White Coffee, but since we can already find them here in the Philippines, I never really ask him to bring anything home.

This time, though, they were given a loot bag during the trip, and he came home with some interesting goodies!

As a family, we love trying different noodle products from other countries. We’ve tasted varieties from South Korea, Japan, Indonesia, and Thailand, so now we’re excited to try Malaysia’s version. As of this writing, we haven’t cooked them yet, but we’re definitely curious!

Here’s what he brought home:

Mamee Perisa Kari
Mamee Monster
Mamee Chef Cup Noodles Ayam Pedas Shitake

My husband also had some remaining Malaysian Ringgit from his previous trips. I told him to just buy anything that would fit the remaining amount so it wouldn’t go to waste, especially since small bills can’t easily be exchanged anymore.

Good thing he found these:

Tan Kim Hock Coconut Cookies – MYR 14
Beh The Sor Biskut – MYR 12

I love how food pasalubong lets us experience a little piece of another country right at home. It’s like traveling through taste!

Now I’m curious, what’s your favorite pasalubong from Malaysia?

Courtyard by Marriott Melaka

It’s been years since our last visit to Malaysia, so when my husband told me he had a work trip to Melaka and that family members were welcome, I was tempted to join. However, since it was only a 3-day weekday trip, my son and I decided not to go, just as we did during his Batam, Indonesia trip.

For his stay, he checked in at Courtyard by Marriott Melaka. The hotel is approximately 132 km from Kuala Lumpur International Airport and 7.6 km from Malacca International Airport. Since their flight route was Manila to Kuala Lumpur, the travel time was quite long. Thankfully, the hotel offers airport shuttle services, making transportation more convenient.

Airport Shuttle Rates

From Kuala Lumpur International Airport

RM351.00 – One-way
RM702.00 – Round Trip
(Reservation Required)

From Malacca International Airport

RM65.00 – One-way
RM130.00 – Round Trip
(Reservation Required)

The hotel is also accessible from Melaka Sentral Bus Station for those traveling by land.

Room at Courtyard by Marriott Melaka

A few weeks prior, my husband stayed at the Courtyard by Marriott Bangkok and noticed similarities in the rooms' modern, clean design. However, his room in Melaka was more spacious. Even though he was traveling solo, he was given a twin-bed room, which made the space feel even bigger and more comfortable.

The room design reflects Courtyard’s signature contemporary style, minimalist, functional, and cozy; perfect for business travelers who need both comfort and workspace.

Buffet Breakfast at Courtyard Café

Breakfast is served daily at Courtyard Café from 6:30 AM to 11:00 AM. The buffet offers a variety of local and international dishes, making it easy to enjoy both Malaysian flavors and familiar favorites to start the day.

Toss for Prosperity – Lunar New Year Celebration

Since the trip coincided with the Lunar New Year celebration, they had a special Toss for Prosperity (also known as Yee Sang) activity before the program began.

This colorful dish is made with a mix of fresh ingredients, each symbolizing blessings, prosperity, good health, and happiness for the new year. Participants toss the ingredients high with chopsticks while expressing well wishes—believing that the higher the toss, the greater the prosperity.

Pricing: RM188 Nett

It was a meaningful and festive experience, especially for a short business trip.

Hotel Facilities

Due to the tight schedule, my husband didn’t get the chance to visit the hotel’s fitness center or infinity pool. Hopefully, next time we can all join him and fully enjoy the amenities.

Although it was a short trip, the stay at Courtyard by Marriott Melaka seemed comfortable and convenient, especially for business travelers attending events in the city. Maybe next time, we’ll finally get to explore Melaka together as a family.

OldTown White Coffee in Malaysia

OldTown White Coffee is a pride of Malaysia which was founded in the year 1999. They are the largest and halal-certified kopitiam restaurant chain. Kopi tiam or kopitiam means a traditional coffee shop that is mostly found in Southern Thailand, Singapore, Brunei, and Malaysia. These coffee shops offer toast or kaya plus coffee or tea. Some kopitiam in Malaysia offer extended menus where you can eat breakfast, lunch and dinner meals.

Whenever my husband goes to Malaysia, he always eats at OldTown White Coffee and at the same time, he buys OldTown White Coffee instant beverage mixes. Yes, the company is not just a coffee shop but they also manufacture instant beverage mixes. It started with a desire to serve the finest coffee at home or in their 200 outlets across Asia.

OldTown White Coffee is a perfect blend of three types of coffee beans which are Arabica, Liberica, and Robusta. OldTown White Coffee has different variants, they have Classic, Hazelnut, Less Sugar, Mocha, Cane Sugar, Coffee & Creamer, and Extra Rich. They also have OldTown White Milk Tea, Nan Yang White Coffee O with sugar added, Nan Yang White Coffee O Kosong, Black Series Coffee with sugar added and Black Series Black Coffee.

Where to Stay in Kuala Lumpur Malaysia

There are so many hotels, hostels, AirBnB, and backpacker lodges in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia so choosing accommodation is not difficult. Two things that you should ask yourself are: “How much is my budget? and which part of Kuala Lumpur is best for my trip?” Knowing your itinerary makes it easy for you to narrow down your choices.

You can stay in Bukit Bintang, KLCC, Chinatown, KL Sentral, Bangsar, Chow Kit, Petaling Jaya, or Subang Jaya. Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia is famous because of Petronas Tower so if you plan to visit the iconic tower, I suggest you stay in Bukit Bintang or KLCC area because you can visit Petronas Tower by walking.

Anyway, if you are looking for a hotel in Kuala Lumpur, check out the following hotels we've stayed at or that my husband tried in the past. They range from budget to expensive. Checking the rates of the hotel, it is quite similar to Philippines rates so it won’t hurt your pocket unlike in other Southeast Asian countries.

1. Sky Hotel Bukit Bintang

Sky Hotel Bukit Bintang is the first hotel that we have tried in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia. It is a budget hotel that is strategically situated in the heart of Kuala Lumpur city center. It is a few minutes away from transportation, shopping, entertainment, and even the business district.

We booked a room-only package, so no breakfast for us, but since it has a good location, fastfood, restaurants, and even cafes are within reach. If you love street food, then visit Jalan Alor, where you can eat different Asian cuisines. Petronas Twin Towers, Aquaria KLCC, and Menara KL Tower are also within walking distance.

2. Saujana Hotel and Resort

Saujana Hotel and Resort is far from the Kuala Lumpur City center, so if you are after relaxation or you just want to have a staycation, then stay in this resort. It is a 5-star resort in Malaysia that is ideal for business and leisure travelers.

It sits on 160 hectares, so it is really huge, a different type of resort where you can see squirrels, monitor lizards, and even monkeys within the resort premises. They have a golf course, swimming pool, fitness center, spa, and sports area.

3. Sheraton Kuala Lumpur Hotel

Sheraton Kuala Lumpur Hotel has an excellent location in KLCC because it is close to LRT and monorail stations and Petronas Twin Towers. My husband even said that he can see Petronas Towers from his room. It offers a gym, spa, and an outdoor pool. My husband likes this hotel because they know how to value their loyal guests. They always upgrade his room to Club room but unfortunately, room only and no club lounge access.

4. Intercontinental Kuala Lumpur Hotel

InterContinental Hotel is also located in the heart of the city, so it is a few minutes' walk away from Petronas Twin Towers, Suria KLCC, Bukit Bintang, and the LRT station. They provide complimentary shuttle services for your comfort and convenience.

The hotel offers a fitness center, spa, and swimming pool. The room looks old but is big and clean. I guess there are already renovated rooms, but my husband stayed in the old room. According to my husband, there are a lot of Filipino staff here, and the service is good.

5. JW Marriott Hotel

Located in the heart of Bukit Bintang, JW Marriott Hotel Kuala Lumpur is a luxurious five-star hotel perfect for travelers who want comfort and convenience. With elegant rooms, excellent dining options, and shopping malls like Pavilion Kuala Lumpur just steps away, it's a great base for exploring the city.

InterContinental Kuala Lumpur Hotel in Malaysia

Kuala Lumpur is the capital of Malaysia and it is known for Petronas Twin Towers so if you are going to visit this city, I’m pretty sure that you won’t leave the place without visiting this skyscraper. When we first visited Kuala Lumpur, we stayed at Bukit Bintang area so we were able to visit the Twin Tower during day and night though it is a long walk from our hotel.

But there are a lot of hotels where you can stay which is just a few minutes away from Petronas Twin Towers like InterContinental Hotel. It is located in the strategic location of Jalan Ampang, it is five minutes away from Suria KLCC and Petronas Twin Towers, two minutes away from Ampang LRT station and few minutes walk from shopping centers in Bukit Bintang area. The hotel offers complimentary shuttle services around the entertainment hubs.

My husband stayed at InterContinental Kuala Lumpur hotel last week during his business trip. They had a one-day event at the said hotel. It was his first time in InterContinental hotel and according to him, you can see that the hotel is already old but clean. He likes the good service and there were so many Filipino staffs there.

The room is a little bit bigger compared to other hotels that he tried in Kuala Lumpur Malaysia. This is the room.

They have coffee and tea set but it was the first time that I saw a Milk Menu. They offer a complimentary selection of milk for their guest, you can choose full milk, low-fat milk or soy milk. You can request via their Instant Service button, you can order hot or cold milk.

The bathroom has a separate shower and bathtub.

The room package includes buffet breakfast at Serena Brassiere. It provides appetizing breakfast for business and leisure travelers. It is ideal for a family too because they have a children’s corner. It serves mixed of local and international cuisines.

They have a spa, swimming pool, and fitness center for you to enjoy but because of limited time, my husband was not able to visit these facilities.
