When I was planning for our Summer in Norway trip, I really wanted to do the “Norway in Nutshell” tour in Bergen, Flam or Oslo. It is the famous tour if you want to see and experience Norway in very limited time. You have the chance to ride the train to see different scenery and boat to appreciate the beauty of Sognefjord or Hardanger Fjord.
But Oslo, Flam and Bergen is very far, we need to take boat and plane from my mom’s place just to start the tour. The package tour is not cheap too so I just told myself, maybe next time when we have enough savings for that.
Little did I know that Norway has so many fjords. According to Wikipedia, Norway has 1,190 fjords. Aside from Norway, you can also see fjords in Alaska, Iceland, New Zealand, Greenland and other countries.
What is Fjord?
A fjord or fiord is a deep, narrow and long body of water with steep land on three sides, it is U-shaped inlet surrounded by mountains. It was formed by glacial erosion.
Even though we did not experience the Norway in a Nutshell tour, our trip in Norway is still worth it because we’ve seen other fjords too like Trondheim Fjord and Bjugn Fjord. If you’ve been following my Norway series, you noticed that we frequent Bjugn because this is near in Ørland. It is more or less 30 minutes drive so my mom allots time to tour us after her work. So far we have visited Vallersund Farm, Angel of Peace and Lake in Teksdal.

Anyway, we went out for a walk in Bjugn. I noticed that there is no sign from the parking lot so I asked my mom kung paano niya nalaman yung pupuntahan namin. She said, she learned this place from her colleagues. Who would ever think that there is a hidden gem in that narrow road.

While walking you will notice some artwork in the trees and there are also benches where you can rest if you are already tired. My son always sits on the bench, pagod lang peg lagi.
After several minutes, I was surprised to see the view. Wow! Just wow. There are waiting shed and picnic table where we ate our snacks. Yes, we always have baon. Hehehe!
The fjord is really stunning, though my picture does not give justice because it is against the light and pagabi na rin. But I’m happy to see this beauty.

Norway is a beautiful place, very nice for retiring :) And just like the most, its also in my bucket list!
ReplyDeleteGorgeous view! Definitely worth the hike, and this coming from a person whose least favorite activity is hiking. :)
ReplyDeleteSuch a beautiful place! I won't mind the hike If I'll be rewarded with this view :)
ReplyDeleteI don't mind the long walks or tiring hike if I'll be at such a wonderful place. How I wish I could soon visit Norway :)
ReplyDeleteOh wow! Norway is so beautiful! Don't know if I'll love the hike as I'm a wimp like that, lol, but would love to be able to someday experience how beautiful Norway is.. :)
ReplyDeleteI am always fascinated with anything nature! It always puts me in awe and think how amazing God is for His creations! Now I know what a fjord is! :D. Norway is indeed a beautiful place! Thanks for giving us a glimpse of it.
ReplyDeleteI'd definitely want to go there but only in the morning. I think I may have watched too many serial killer films so a forest at night would not be a good thing for me. However I have to say that the view really is fantastic.
ReplyDeleteNice shots! Fjord is a suitable spot for those who like mountain-climbing and challenges.
ReplyDeleteSeems like you really had fun during your hike and I can imagine kung gaano kalamig dyan. Ang ganda talaga sa Norway, travel goal ko talaga siya.
ReplyDeleteHaha, I remember one post you had before re bringing food at Norway because food there was too expensive. So cute that youre quite consistent on that and you always have baon. Hahha, the trip is all worth it. Enjoying the view and they having something to munch at the same time.
ReplyDeleteNorway looks beautiful. I loved the view and the nature. It looked like y'all are cold and bundled-up properly.
ReplyDeleteI have a couple of childhood friends who are now in Norway. After seeing your post, I am wondering if they are willing to adopt us even for just a week. haha
ReplyDeleteOMG, Norway!
ReplyDeleteI already loved the place after reading P.S I Love You in college and have already included it on my travel wish list. I'm just having a difficult time pronouncing the word though :) Thank you for sharing how beautiful this place is.
Looking through your pictures, the trails in Norway really looks stunning. What I love to visit in Norway is the famous Boulders.
