How to Claim Parcel in PHLPost

Read my updated post here. How to Track Parcel in PHLPost

Online shopping is very common nowadays, it allows us to buy things that we want without leaving the comfort of our home. From time to time, I also shop online but I haven’t tried shopping overseas because I’m afraid that my package will get lost or I will pay more for taxes.
Read: My Shopping Experience at Althea Korea

Last month, I asked my mom to send me some documents that I need. She sent it to me last January 17 and I asked for the tracking number. She advised me that I might receive it after a week. So I searched online on how can I track the package. I checked the tracking site of Norway which is POSTEN, I just entered the tracking number and I saw the following details.

Details Package Number: RRXXXXXXX
Shipment number: XXXXXXXX
Number of Packages: 1
Product Name: REGISTERED LETTER
Weight: -
Measurements: -

The package was being scanned every transport so I was able to track it on time.

Jan 18 Oslo Norway
Jan 19 Arrived in Copenhagen Denmark
Jan 20 Shipment is forwarded to transit country
Jan 24 Shipment arrived in Manila

Then I searched for PHLPost tracking site so I can track my package here in the Philippines. I just entered the tracking number and I saw a note that the package was sent to delivery office last January 26.

Since January 27, I was waiting for my parcel, as I mentioned it was my first time to receive a package overseas so I was hoping that it will be delivered to our house since it is just a letter. But I did not receive anything, I have NO NOTICE CARD from the post office so I printed the tracking information from the PhilPost site and went to our post office last January 31. I was praying that my parcel was already there.

The staff checked her notebook and she said “Wala pa, san ka ba nakatira?" I said my address and she double-checked again her notebook and finally, she saw it. My parcel was there since January 27. Then, she started checking the packages and asked, “Ano ba yung package na yun?” I said, documents po, nasa envelope lang. I waited for a few minutes then she found the envelope.

I showed her my valid ID to verify. She said I need to pay P112. I was surprised when she asked for payment but I did not ask any questions. I gave the payment and she gave me an official receipt. On my way home, I’m still thinking about the P112 payment. Pati ba sulat may tax na rin? How much more if I will shop online, magkano kaya tax nun. Anyway, I’m happy that I received the documents.

If you are waiting for a package, just track your package on PHLPost site, when you see the ”Enroute to Delivery Office” status, print it and visit your local post office after 2 or 3 days. Bring a valid ID and money just in case you need to pay.

HOW TO CLAIM PARCEL IN PHLPOST

1. Search for the tracking site of the origin country. In my case, Norway.
2. Track your package and when you see this status "Shipment arrived in Manila"
3. Go to the PHLPost tracking site and track your package. https://tracking.phlpost.gov.ph/
4. If you see this status "Enroute to Delivery Office".

You can
- wait for the notification card from PHLPost or
- print the tracking result and go to your local PHLPost office after 2 or 3 days.
5. Bring a Valid ID and pay for the Handling Fee or Customs Tax

Local PHLPost Office = Saan naka-address yung package?

* Don't forget to bring a Valid ID and money for payment. With regards to payment, I have no idea about the rates. I only received documents that I need for my visa application and I was advised to pay P112.
* Delivery time will depend on the Customs Office and Local Post Office.

Update: February 2020

My mom sent the same documents for my brother's Schengen visa application and the parcel delivered straight to their house and no PHP112 payment. (Valenzuela). Waah! Bakit kaya dito sa post office namin, lagi ako pinagbabayad ng PHP112 at ako pa nagpick-up lagi ng parcel.

Update: February 2022

I asked my mom to send me the documents for my Schengen visa application and I was worried that it will be delayed because of the COVID19 pandemic but I was glad that I received the package immediately. My mom sent regular mail only and my aunt sent express mail pero sabay lang kami ng pinsan ko na nakatanggap ng mail so sayang yung bayad sa express kasi hindi naman naging express delivery.

January 25 - The shipment has been handed in to Bring
January 26 - The shipment has been sent from the origin country
January 31 - The shipment has arrived in the destination country
February 3 - Enroute to the delivery office
February 4 - Claimed the parcel.

When I saw the Enroute to the Delivery Office status, I did not wait for any notification card from PHLPost. The following day, I told my husband to check my parcel at our local post office and fortunately, it was already available and he paid PHP112 again. This was fast compared to my experience in year 2019

My mom sent the documents to my brother too and the mailman tried to deliver the package to their house (thrice) but the guard refused daw kasi masyado daw malaki yung envelope for the mailbox so Valenzuela Post Office sent a notification card instead. My brother picked up the parcel at Valenzuela Post Office and did not pay any fee, unlike sa amin sa province lagi ako sinisingil ng PHP112 (postal handling fee). The registered mail arrived in Valenzuela, six days after my mom sent it.

May note doon sa card "An unclaimed Registered Mail or Parcel will be returned to the sender or disposed of in accordance with postal regulations after 30 days counting from the date of issue of this notice. A parcel may be retained beyond 30 days upon request provided the storage fee is deposited before the 30-days period expire"

Care to share your experience with the Philippine Postal Corporation.

    1. P112 is for the postal handling fee. It's by law. I buy a lot from ebay USA, China and from japan. Apparently it is easier to buy and receive your package from the US than from the Asian Countries mentioned above. AVOID using Philpost when buying in asia. USE EMS. Small items will be delivered straight to your door. BIG boxes will always be put on hold at EMS but at least they will ALWAYS inform you through a Notice Card. Bring proof of purchase like paypal receipts. TRY NOT TO EXCEED 10K tax Free total item price. CUSTOMS ARE CORRUPT EVEN TODAY! DO NOT CLAIM YOUR PACKAGE ON FRIDAYS. THEY ARE MORE CORRUPT ON FRIDAYS. For a hassle free ebay buying or ANY other online store in the USA, use MyUS.com. You will be given your own USA address. They will consolidate all your items in to one box. It's very convenient. This is door to door service through FEDEX. Same rules, do not exceed 1Ok pesos. Have them delivered separately. I once bought a lot of items that totalled $600 and to test if how much philippine tax i would pay, i had them all sent to me at the same time and I was taxed 8k pesos. FEDEX contacted me and arranged for EVERYTHING. My package was delivered to my door then i paid the 8k pesos. When buying from the USA, you can use MYUS.com and My-shoppingbox.com. Do not use myUsdelivered. Their service is expensive.

  2. Yes. I had a similar experience. Was asked to pay for a certain amount, P114 ata or same as yours. I didnt ask further as I just want to get my package and leave. I asked friends after that why cant they just deliver the package door to door when they had the time and resources to send to me the notification.

  4. Yes, this is the common practice with our local post office. Normally, they send out Parcel Notice so you will know your package/parcel has arrived and it is ready to be claimed. I also pay Php112 for each parcel. It used to be Php85. Sometimes, I also ask myself what this fee is for, especially that most of the items I picked up are free items I got that I will review on my blog.

  9. I had a rather frustrating experience with PhilPost back in 2012 and thank goodness I never had to receive anything through them again. I was sent a box of perishables by a German friend and I received a "2nd warning" to pick it up already. I didn't even receive any notice that it arrived already. Then I had to ask someone to pick it up for me because I had classes during their work hours. Sigh. :(

  16. Ugh someone sent me a package via PhilPost without informing me nor giving me a tracking number. I just learned about it when I received notification from PhilPost. But since I don't know who sent it, I had a hard time claiming it because #1, she used my nickname on the recipient's name which isn't what's on my ID's, and #2, I have no idea who she/he is, so I can't make arrangements nor fix the mixup. So I just left it there. PhilPost doesn't even want to tell me who sent it so what will I do? Sorry, nainis ako hahahah! The woman at the counter was a big snob.

    2. Hmmm... how about screen shot and then i-present nalang sa mga personnel nila from the front desk of the office? Would that be enough or print out tlga? I will be claiming my item on November 2 and we have 3 PhlPost branches here, I don't know which among the 3 has received my item. At nalilito ako. Paclarify naman yung tanong ko. After ba matanggap ng customs for inspection, doon palang ba nila isesend sa PhlPost main ng Manila and then ipasa nila sa mga local/provincial branches? And then ikaw ba talaga ang pupunta sa office to claim the product or you have to wait for your item to arrive at your house? It's just so confusing really.

      Delete
    3. You could show them the screenshot of your tracking number, but they'll ask you to write it down on a piece of paper pa rin, kasi kukunin nila yun as some sort of grocery shopping list pag hahanapin na yung package mo sa loob. I can't say for sure, pero I've claimed from Caloocan Central Post Office, Quezon City Central Post Office, and Makati Central Post Office, laging may "central" sa name yung pagpick-upan. Kung first time mo talaga what you can do is either call any of those branches you mentioned, and ask kung dun ba or wait for your notice card muna kung kaya pa maghintay kasi dun nakalagay saan mo kukunin.
No no no, di na nila isesend sa main ng Manila, they get sent directly to the receiver's post office and yes sa kalungkutang palad, ikaw pa talaga pupunta to claim(pag "enroute to delivery office" na yung tracking number status for atleast 2-3 days) Sabi sa nabasa-basa ko rin dito, pag priority mail idedeliver daw sa bahay mo mismo, ako kasi for 6 years never pang may nagdeliver ng package sa bahay, maski EMS.

    1. Is it just me or Philpost's "handling fee" feels a bit unfair or something? You pay them for examining/inspecting your parcel? That's like going to a building and the security personnel will ask you to pay a "handling fee" for inspecting your bags! Shouldn't it be an obligation of some sort by the Bureau of Customs? Ang saklap lang kasi they don't even deliver door to door. Ang flow tuloy pag umorder ka: Sender sends the package -> gets inspected by their local customs -> package leaves originating country -> arrives in the PH -> gets inspected again by our own customs even though the package already passed international customs -> gets sent to your local post office -> package sits there for a few weeks to more than a month until they send you a notice card -> claim at your post office. Kung pwede lang sana, as they send you the notice card, dala na rin nung postman yung package mo para babayaran mo na rin agad yung "handling fee", pag wala lang tao tsaka pupuntahan sa post office.

    2. "Charging a fee for holding your parcel in the office instead of delivering it to your front door is absurd. Fees for delivering/holding those parcels should have been covered by the postage dues that the sender has paid."

  32. I was actually in the middle of waiting for the notice card from philpost when I came across this post today. So what I did, I printed the tracking page from the TNT philpost website and physically went down to the main office of philpost sa lawton to get my parcel and I was able to get mine on the spot.

I had to come down kasi 2 weeks na nasa central post office yung package ko and I knew this when I called up their hotline last week confirming that it's indeed there na. I was told na need ko na lang antayin yung notice card pero as of today wala pa dumadating sa kin kaya pinuntahan ko na. Good thing the package is in one piece and nothing was missing - it's a medicine I ordered from the U.S. and I paid Php 112 upon claiming din.

I strongly suggest you call up Philpost hotline first before going down WITHOUT the notice card. If you have a tracking number then better. Usually give it some time muna before doing this, atleast mga 1 month (ganun kasi inabot sa kin kaya napilitan ako puntahan na), pag sumobra na sa waiting period na yun then saka nyo na puntahanan. And para less hassle, bring the receipt or whatever proof of purchase you have when claiming, hinanapan din kasi ako pero wala ako maipakita - had to make an alibi para makalusot.

    2. I ask something similar to the guy who attended me at the philpost when I claimed my package a few days ago. I am expecting a few more parcels from the US that was shipped WITHOUT tracking numbers kasi international standard lang ang shipping method nya from the seller - sinabi nya na pag may tracking daw na binigay yung seller then you have to pick it up from them sa post office PERO pag walang tracking naman magiging door to door daw sya. I find that arrangement weird pero if that's how they choose to handle these kinds packages then I got no choice but to comply. As long as it dont get lost or stolen and even damaged then its fine by me.

You can call their hotline to verify this. I'm just repeating what I'm told. And just like the parcel I just picked up, I'm willing to wait up until end of july for it to come around, pag wala pa rin by mid July then dun ko na sila sisimulang tawagan.

If you want, pwede mo rin tawagan: 928-16-67 :)
P.S. Don't forget to bring one valid ID(isa lang hinihingi sakin palagi eh, pero para sure dalawin mo nalang haha)

  41. Just had that experience right now: I NEVER thought may bayad because I knew from the breakdown of expenses ay yun na yon kasama na yung customs. Hindi pala (supposedly?). Someone who has "kapit" sa PhlPost should give the real story about those taxes.

Yes 112 pesos sa napakaliit na parcel, dalawang items so 224 total. Now here's the interesting part: I previously ordered face masks na naka advert sa FB, and dumating sa akin yon by regular mail na WALA akong binayaran. Weight is 106 grams. This time my two parcels weighs roughly the same each. Long story short, I asked them I thought bayad na yan sa customs during purchase online, they said "Ipadeliver ko man sa address ko o hindi, 112 pesos pa rin per parcel ang bayad." What he didn't know that I previously do online shopping and it was delivered before without paying anything.

Here's the thing: They know when they ask you for charges, you will *inevitably* pay for it, and that's extra money for them. I doubt those receipt thingy. I think it's just a front (the receipt is just a computer-printed invoice; I can do a thousand copies of that myself), there's no payment to shell out, I suspect. Sa tracking number online, it said "Recipient refused the product delivered" which is certainly NOT TRUE. I was at home on the date of arrival. They deliberately reported "refused" so the online shopping delivery cart will report it as such, at ikaw naman mapapadali sa pag punta sa phlpost syempre. at dun ka na tatagain.

Again, I've been shopping online and small parcels like that, I never pay a cent at all and delivered to my doorstep; I think they noticed my name frequently and decided to concoct a modus.

Someone's got to dig in deeper on this.

  42. Hi po first time ko po if ever makaka receive ng package from a friend U.s to Philippines. He was using the priority mail box (small flat rate box) inside the box was chocolates and 2 Iphones 3 and 4 version. I don't know what is the advantage of priority over regular mail packages. I have also written on the box with my exact address and how long does it take to arrive? Where should i pick it up and how should i know if it arrives already? Does it cost a charged on the package if ever? (I can't afford an expensive charges).

Please please someone answer me i know nothing about this procedure and I really need more details about it.

Thank you so much in advance .

    3. If your friend gave you a tracking number, you can track you package through here: http://tnt.phlpost.gov.ph and it usually takes 6-10 business days for priority mail to arrive in the PH.( If it's not urgent, you could wait for a notice card to be sent to your home address once the package arrives at your post office and ready for pickup(this could take from days to months! depending on how diligent your mailman is) You'd know where to pick it up from that notice card, or if you have a tracking number and it says "Enroute to delivery office" on the status, wait for 2-3 days and just print the tracking number or write it down on a piece of paper and bring 2 valid IDs to your post office. (And since you don't know yet where your post office is, I'd say google can help you with that. From my experience, it's usually the one that has "Central Post Office" in it's name; e.g. Makati Central Post Office, Quezon City post office, etc.)

You'll be charged a flat rate of ₱112 when you claim your package, apparently it's for the "Presentation to customs tax" You'll only be charged an additional amount if the total cost of the whole package is greater than ₱10,000.

It will be my first time to receive a package. I'll be receiving a cd/album from Australia, I just get the international tracking number from the sender right? Sabi niya sa 'kin according sa courier niya 17 days bago dumating dito sa PH. Does that mean longer waiting time bago makarating sa Philpost? I'm from Las Piñas pero sabi sa website no results pag nagsearch ako ng Philpost dito sa area ko. :(

So I went there sa Pasay. Tinawag nila ako nung bubuksan na yung package, 2 employees from customs ang magwiwitness yung isa officer.

Then hinanapan ako ng receipt. I think 36 pesos yata yon for "storage fee" ang nakalagay sa receipt.

  57. My order from China was shipped Sept 23. It arrived here in the Philippines on the 26th. It only spent a few hours in Customs (late evening of the 27th to early morning of the 28). Today, it is "enroute to delivery office". I'm going to wait for a text message or a notice card from post office until Monday. Otherwise, puntahan ko na on Tuesday as you advised.

The one from Greece, which I ordered the same time as the one from China, was shipped on the 21st. It arrived here last 27th. And it hasn't moved since. HAHA. I'm using this as my basis for my UK orders that are untracked. They are both from Europe and are shipped at the same time. I'm getting worried kasi it's stuck. Dapat transferred na siya to Customs by now. I'll ask our local post office when I go pick up my parcel on Monday/Tuesday.

Here's to hoping I receive all of my parcels by the second week of October. The wait is killing me. It is a test of patience talaga. Like, it only took a few days for my parcels to reach the country only for it to move at a snail's pace 😂

And that log book! Gah. I thought our local post office is left behind. Lahat naman pala! Kasi, when I visited for my UMID, inisa-isa niya names sa log book. Told me wala. Even asked for my cellphone number. But when I checked on SSS, March 27 pa pala nandun! Anyway, I printed the email and got them moving. So need talaga ng proof. Otherwise, sabihin nila na wala 😑 Kaya kukulitin ko siya about my UK orders. Kasi walang tracking numbers.

Pag registered or may tracking number yung document or parcel na shipped from local post (counterpart ng phlpost naten sa ibang bansa and not fedex, dhl etc) talagang sa local post office nyo sha icclaim, may pipirmahan pa kaseng log book chenes para may proof na nareceive yung parcel. Use your USPS tracking no.
      Or track it with www.17track.net
      I have the 17track app too 😄
Once the parcel arrives at the destination country (Philippines), USPS will transfer it to PhilPost. PhilPost will take your parcel to Customs for inspection. Then Customs will transfer it to PhilPost for the final delivery to your local post office.

  64. I'm an anime collector (Scale figures, Nendos, or the occasional merch)., albeit a relatively 'new' one, just starting out late last year. As such however, I have AT LEAST 2-3 packages -- boxes of all sorts of sizes-- per month.
    Based on experience:

    Fact #1:
You have to pay that P112 PER parcel. PERIOD. Regardless of size of box, weight, type of product/goods, package worth etc. Say you have 3 parcels then you have to pay P336.

    Fact #2:
That P112 handling fee is EXclusive of whatever additional taxes that will be levered on your package. Make sure the declared worth of your parcel on the included invoice is less than 10k PHP. Otherwise prepare yourself >< I forgot how they computed it (if they included the shipping fee or not) but I once had to pay around 3k-4k tax for a ~12k worth parcel.

    Fact #3:
I mainly buy from Japan or US anime shops and have the goodies sent via Japan Post/USPS Registered SAL or EMS straight to the province -- Pangasinan. Never once did they deliver any of them straight to our door. I had (and have) to drive my ass to the local Post Office to claim (and pay that P112 x n) for every last one of them. Yes, even the ones that were sent via EMS. I DON'T understand why they can't deliver straight to our address, other countries' post offices don't work like this. It's REALLY quite a hassle, not to mention and additional pain in the ass due to gas money or whatnot.

Fact #4: Claim notice/stub/card that they are supposed to deliver is, in my humble opinion, quite useless. In my experience, and I have more than maybe 50 shipments since last year now, sometimes they deliver them, sometimes they don't. They actually just send an SMS message to me sometimes if there are parcels waiting to be claimed. Since now I know how to estimate transit time of my parcels based on the shipping method (and since I always have a tracking no. to fall back on), if it shows that it's already at the post office sometimes I just go straight there with just an ID and the tracking no. By now, the staff know me by face and name so I guess that's another factor too.

    Fact #5:
My rare packages that are sent via UPS/FedEx/DHL are delivered straight to our door since these are private couriers. You don't have to pay the P112 but most likely pay whatever customs fee it has, depends on the courier.

    ----------------
At least every town/city has a 'local post office', I think, your best bet would be to check there first.

  74. Hi my cousin from Belfast Northern Ireland UK, sent me a document using just international standard mail, and she said it would probably arrive by just 7 working day or 2 weeks or so, as that's the usual case whenever she sends documents or even parcels, The mail did not come with a tracking # so i don't have any means of tracking it so I went to the Post office in Pasig City, and checked it myself, the teller keep on asking me about a tracking # I said the mail did not come with a tracking # so she concluded that it probably did not arrive yet since it was just sent the last week of December 2017, I don't know if that's a usual case with other nails, without checking my name in their logbooks or so. That's why I"m wondering, I informed my cousin regarding this and she said I should check with the post office from time to time because most of {no all}mailman and staff from Phil Post Office are stubborn,. But I don't have any means to inquire since they need tracking #, and PASIG CITY POST OFFICE TELEPHONE # DOES NOT WORK.

    1. When my mom sent me the documents, I asked for tracking number too. She has no idea about tracking number so I asked her to take a picture of the receipt and I saw the tracking number. But I think post office can track your package using your name, because when I claimed my package the staff used my name and tracking number to search for my package in their logbook.

  76. Hi, I ordered something from a Korean online shopping site. I bulked buy kpop albums since I'm collecting the random photocards inside. It was shipped in two different boxes since it weighed too much and I paid 20K+ PHP for the package and EMS. And I also used my provincial address for it (I addressed it to my office since I have office work) It was shipped to the Philippines last january 13, 2018. Then I tracked the package last january 15, 2018 and the status was "under customs inspection." It's been more than a week and every time I track my packages, the status is still the same "Under Customs Inspection." I try calling them everyday but all their numbers are not contactable. I emailed them, and they said if the address is a provincial address, then I'll just have to wait for it to be forwarded to my local post office.
I've been waiiting for the notice card to arrive or for it to be done with customs inspections but it still isn't.
i'm afraid i might be asked to claim it at their main office and will be taxed double the price i paid.
I dont know what to do now since I have work from Mondays to friday, 8-5pm

    1. Hi, I also bought Kpop albums last Dec 2017, but was only able to pick them up last Jan. 26, 2018.

What happened was that my package was also labeled "Under Customs Inspection". I emailed them real early in the morning and they miraculously replied, don't try calling them, they will never answer those d*mned phones.

So they told me to pick it up at the main office in Pasay, I went there, Kuya Guard asked me if I have a card. I told him I didn't have it, but received an email, so he asked me to proceed to the counter. I gave my tracking number to the person in the counter and he gave me a number, I waited for my number to be called, and when it did, two persons opened my package. The other one must've been an officer as he was just looking, while the other one used a cutter to open the bubble wraps of my albums, and I almost screamed. I was so scared he'd destroy my merchs!

So yeah, after he checked all of them, he asked for my OMB certificate because it's a policy that imported albums should have a certification. Naturally, I was a little pissed off because I didn't knew that was the new rule. I did get the certificate anyway, at least OMB is fast with their replies, I emailed them my request and the certificate is already available after a day or two. I paid 150 for processing fee though, plus I had to pick up the clearance at their office in QC.

It was a hassle, but I'd still buy more albums. At least I know what to do next time.

    1. Do you have a tracking number? If the status of your package is still "Under Customs Inspection" chances are they are being held for you to pick it up yourself, especially if your address is in Metro Manila, they would have you pick it up at their Pasay office. I got mine but they asked for OMB certificate because my package was imported albums from Korea.

    2. Once the tracker says, "enroute to delivery office", I just wait 2 to 3 business days and then I contact our local post office. Usually they're the ones sending me a text message na there's a parcel for me. Hehe. I left my contact number with them 😊

Until now hindi ko parin nakukuha lol kung hindi pa ako nag email sa EMS kasi nung chineck ko ang nakalagay 'examination for customs' parin I waited 1 week baka kasi marami then andun parin nung nagmail ako pinapapunta ako kasi kailangan daw ng presence ko kasi may tax na need bayaran. May nabasa ako ganon rin situation niya ang singil sakanya is 1600 eh yung item niya is only 1200 mga brushes, nail arts and acrylics lang yun. Kinakabahan ako baka ganon rin singil saakin, akala ko ba tax free kapag below 10,000

    2. Hi! I ordered an album online (November 11) and after a month, I asked the seller if she have shipped it already. She said yes but can’t find the tracking number so she shipped another one. She said that I have the same name with the other buyer, and might slipped my order. The notice card arrived on January 9, which I already have claimed. But it got me shook as I got another notice card (February 12) from the same seller. I think that she haven’t slipped my order and sent two albums but the thing is, they have the same registry/ parcel number. So my question is, is it possible to have the same registry/parcel number as the other?

Pagdating ko dun, pinasulat sakin yun tracking number sa isang papel with my name. Then, binigay nung guard sa custom officer.

At ayun. Nakuha ko na! :)

Hope this can help all of you. I know the feeling na wala kang idea kung pano makakarating yung item mo that costs you so much time and money.

    Have a good day!
